Six ft, 285lb, long-haired, product of the real '60's. Spent time in carnivals all over the country, particularly in the east and south. Lots of games in the Carnies and even managed to find a backroom bar game now and again.
I spent time in the Haight before that. Played cards with some of the most famous and infamous musicians around, which was cool, 'cause they were mostly too drunk or high ta know what they were doing, and usually had WAY too much money @ a very young age and had little respect for it. But WTH, they were Hippie musicians, not rocket scientists! I Made a career of driving trucks. Some damn good games to be found in truckstops now and again if I happened to get laid over waiting for a load.
Started playing in Vegas at 19, (big fer my age), and as long as i didn't cause a ruckus or win any jackpots on machines, all went well and I leaned the basics of playing in serious [as opposed to friendly] games the hard way. BIG DIFFERENCE !! LOL.
Played a lot of stud in Vegas, but my favorite game all time was and remains LOWBALL!!! Best form of draw poker ever devised by man or woman. Sadly it's very hard to find a straight lowball game anymore, and I usually have to depend on stud HI/LOW, or 2-7 draw, or OMAHA HI/L to scratch that old itch. hahaha
In the '80s while taking a few years off the road, I started dealing cards, and moved up to floor man, and then to manager of my family's Lowball cardroom. GAWD I miss those days/games! Best feeling in the world is to take down a big LOWBALL pot with a full house!! BUT, if you cant play lowball, i guess hold-em is next best.
I always managed to get up a weekly game amongst my pals. You know, nickel/dime/quarter that ends up at 4:00AM with guys writing checks(usually to me i might add).
So i guess that's my personal descriprtion. Never thought it out before let alone put it to keyboard, but it seems like i've been playing poker most of the last 45+ years!!!!
And still playing, & still trying to figure it all out. Wanna play?
