take your buddy's money??

my next door neighbor & i like to go to the las vegas nite charity event they have once a year to benefit the waterski team where we live. and it never fails we'll both be card dead for a while & both end up with good starting hands at the same time! it's a 2-5 limit holdem game with $1 & $2 blinds so it's not a big game but if you have a good nite you can walk away a couple hundred to the good. so i'm in a middle position this one particular hand & i look down POCKET KINGS !!! bob is on my right & raises to $7 i tell him "better make it $12 bob" he calls. long story short 1st card off on the flop is a K ! SWEET! board is nothing but trash after that. & when the hand is over bob shows me his Ac Kc. OUCH !!! i almost felt bad for the guy. next nite i have J 10 hearts UTG i limp. bob raises to $5 from the button. i make the call.flop is K J 10 rainbow. i check & call $5 turn is a 10 ! i have 10s full !!! river card is a 6 . now i lead a $5 bet bob thinks for a long while talking to himself & he comes right out & asks me if i have AQ i smile back & tell him "nope, but if YOU do, now would be a good time to fold it ." he calls,he's got AK again !!!

pwned? in cash games, top pair is so overrated.

There are no buddies when you're sitting at a poker table. lol top pair means nothing. I've found that out more than once. Make him buy you dinner next time he takes your money.

i did say i ALMOST felt bad he would've done the same to me i'm sure

i usually play in tournaments with buddies. in fact, just the other night i was dealt pocket 6s. tabled folded to me in the 8th seat. i called. big blind, which was my buddy checked. flop came out 10 10 5. big blind made the min bet. i called and small blind folded. so it was me and my buddy heads up. turn was a 2. no flush possibilities. again he made the min. bet which was 400 at the time. yet again i made the call on 2 pair. the river came out as 6. upped his bet to 800, and i raised to 3200. he called and i flipped. needless to say, he was pissed cause i caught it on the river. flipped over trip 10s. all i could say was weak bets. and he laughed.
but getting back to you, ive lost to friends plenty of times, especially in key moments of tournaments.
at the table, youre just another player to take out for them.

I think if the people folded to you in the button position you would try to steal blinds. You could get them before the flop. Pocket 6s is pretty good, i think.

we were playing a game for charity in our local pub (£25 to join the game half goes to the charity)we get to hu and its me and my son mark,i have aa flop comes kka,mmmmmmmmmthinks me abiggish raise,my son says i would fold if i were you,i say then throw your chips in my boy ok says he but you goin to loose,,he flips over kk. well i thought i lost until the river comes the other ace.strangest luckiest hand i ever played.i split the cash with him.

The only time I feel bad when playing against friends is that they did not have more money behind them when I busted them.

Better he piss away his money to you then to strangers! Dud eis a calling station, TPTK into paired boards and he has no clue. Best thing you can do is have lunch and ask him if he at least knew he was beat or does he really not have poker smarts. Not to insult him, to help him.
