thing is AFTER the flop small blind has the WORST position at the table.you have NO information. in this case i would have flopped trips & now i absolutely HAVE to bet them & BUY information ! if i get reraised i most likely have just run into trip Js !! now i'm drawing practically dead. but i'm not reasonably sure of that either because what actually happened was that the raiser had AK spades & 2 spades hit on the flop. he just might raise with a nut flush draw, seeing as there is not a pair on the board & at that point there would be way too much money in the pot to turn the trip 5s loose. as it was that pot grew to nearly $100 when it was all said & done.

i thought about calling. i really did. for about 3 seconds !!! but i know the guy & i figured at best i had a very very small advantage with the pocket pair. yeah. i would have won a really nice pot if i had called, but man with bob raising & brian behind me (not to mention knowing i'm 1st to act after the flop ) i just couldn't pull the trigger !

I would have played it the exact same way. You knew who you were playing with and you had a good read on your opponents. It's only rough to think back on it because of the way it played out.

Think this would be an easy lay down no questions asked.

I like 55, but that's tough. Implied odds are huge, and you hit.

With that many callers in the pot like that, and no one except your buddy really popping the pot, I would have gotten in there.

Reading on, it looks like you hit, and hit hard... oh well.

Admittedly, 55 is tough in early position.
