Default Heads up strategy discussion

A lot of players have a strange strategy in heads up cash games. They preflop raise almost every hand. I reraise them preflop with marginal hands cause they can't have a good hand everytime. But for sum reason i always lose to these people. Any advice?

Default Don't worry about pre-flop.

How much are they raising? If it's not too much, they're really just shortening up the game by making your stacks smaller relative to the starting pot.

If they are consistently raising, but not all that much, consider simply calling their raise with any hand you are willing to play, then treat it as if that was just how big the blinds were. Fold your absolute trash, but be willing to play the vast majority of starting cards.

DON'T reraise, especially with marginal hands. All you're doing is building a big pot with a hand you don't want to play a big pot with. If you never reraise, your opponent won't have any clue what you have. The big key is to try to see the flop for the smallest investment possible.

If you make this adjustment and your opponent still beats you regularly, then he's simply outplaying you after the flop. Make a note, and try to avoid playing him heads-up in the future!

Heads-up is tough...luck does play a big roll short-term, but in the long run heads-up matches favor the better player by a lot. Try NOT to be the first one to sign up...see who your opponent is first, and try to only play heads-up against players you know are distinctly weaker than you. Otherwise you're much better off playing in a ring game or single table sit-n-go.
