Default Online Cheating?

I have played on PS for about 2 years and really enjoy the site. There is one thing that has really bothered me, though. Last year, during ESPN's WSOP coverage, they ran a story on some players that went to Vegas to play. They story was about a group of about 8 players that rented a house together. (Did anyone see this?) Anyway, the camera crew was touring the house and went into a main room, like a dining area, and there were about 10 computers on the table and a bunch of people playing online - AND THEY WERE ALL ON POKERSTARS! How could this be? Couldn't PS be able to police that somehow? It has always made me think that there could be groups of players playing "together." Any thoughts?

groups could play together regardless..dont need to be in a room together....could do it over skype or a messanger and tell cards...its always a risk you take.......only at cash tables though wouldnt work in a big tournament...not sure how PS could patrol it if they all have diff internet connections...just a risk you take

They do police it to some extent. I have been stopped from entering a 1 tbl sng and cash games because my cousin was registered or sitting at the same game and we were on the same IP address on my home network. I have also seen tnem catch IM between players. Fact is they cant stop it entirely but they do seem to try as best they can. Its the risk we take to play the game we love... or in some cases manicly obsess over.

Actually this was shown in previous years also. There has been uproars over similar scenes that involved European players. This is always a risk as most have stated with online play. Most of those players you saw probably weren't in the same tourneys or at the same cash tables. They each have their likes and dislikes. And some of the ones that may have been at the same table were still probably going at each other. Many of those guys enjoy the challenge of beating each other also.

Please also remember... just because they are all logged into Pokerstars does not instantly mean they are cheating. Some might be playing while others are just being railbirds.
