If he is attempting to raise that should tell u something. A fold after he bets on the flop I think is appropriate considering that you pegged him as a solid player.

u are beat fold rainbow flop his bet action makes me put him on pockets larger than any flop card, and him being a new player most likely is gonna feel out the other seated players b4 trying something fancy as well u should observe his play a bit longer to get where u can read him more confidently

You should take SB's lead and instant fold at preflop I would say. Since u said that u thought he was a solid player.. and his intention to raise preflop, plus he had position on you.

You played the hand fine. When you make TPTK on a 9-high flop and only have 11xBB in your stack in a BB vs Button situation (extremely important piece of info and almost everybody in the thread is neglecting it), you have to move with this. And yes, sometimes, like this time, you will be beat, but you're giving up value if you don't play it the way that you did.

He very easily can have AQ/AK here and if so, you have him crushed where you're about a 7:1 favorite. If he has non-AA overpair, you're still only a 4:1 dog with your 5 outs twice, which is not great, but not the end of the world.

Also, it's key for you to include the SB's stack in situations like this, because the the three stack sizes together (SB, BB, button) dictate, to some degree the raise size the button will use. If the SB was short also, he may have been betting 5xBB with a fairly wide range just to put pressure on you guys when he has a significantly bigger stack and wants the blinds.
