I'm sorry that I don't have a question today. I do however have a few answers.
Thanks for joining Railbirds.com and I wish you the best of luck on the felt.
Better than me anyway. LOL!

Mr. McEvoy,

do you think you'll ever join in a railbirds free roll or buy-in tourny?

BTW...Thanks for doing this Tom....you the Man!
I got the pokerbug when I was 5 years old. I first felt I could make a living at the game when I came to Las Vegas on a visit in 1977 when I was 33 years old.

yes, I have already played once on PokerStars, and will try to play in future games--but only those on PokerStars--no other sites

They are not on a different level than the older pros. They just have better computer skills--they are probably better in the computer games for that reason, but not necessarily in the live action games in the casinos

Hello Mr McEvoy, its a pleasure to talk to a pro with so much experience under there belt.

Q. How much luck is required in winning large MTT's and do you think new players under estimate the luck required in taking down a large MTT?

In the words of a famous poker player , "Theres a lot timber to climb through to win 1 of these big tournaments"

when talking about position play and raises, what do you feel is the correct way to play from various positions around the table.Assuming you would have a hand worthy of raising with , of course.
Thanks for joining our site a helping those of us wishing to learn.

Good luck on the tables!

Question Preparing for the WSOP

Tom:

Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom with us here at Railbirds!

I won a seat in the 2008 in a drawing, and I am trying desperately to improve my skills. What would you suggest as the most effective way to train for this event? Do I have any real chance to compete against the players who will be there?

Dear Tom McEvoy....
I feel I have a fairly good grasp of pot odds and implied odds. But I am having a hard time getting +/-EV down. How important do you think that kind of math is and is it possible to be a consistant winner in the long run without great math skills?
Thanks

Good day Sir. A couple of thoughts. Do most poker players not understand how powerful the Button position is in Poker? And, are Professional Poker Players in the States actually scared about Annette when she turns 21?

Cheers! Alan Chiras; Key West, Florida.
