this is a confusing question, but if you checked couldnt you be penalised for soft playing since you now know what he was holding and you didnt bet

This was right from the 2007 WPT Borgata Poker Classic Season V event. Chuck was a little tired, and I'm sure he was feeling a little out matched. When the turn card came up and he bet, and then was called; for some odd reason he spaced out and thought the hand was over, so he turned up his cards pre-maturely.
I was very surprised when Johnny "World" bet all-in. I suspected him to make the smaller bet to make sure he would get called. But when he bet all-in, I was even more surprised to see Chuck make the call.
Johnny's play was very much like when Scottie Nguyen won the 1998 WSOP ME by betting all-in with a fullhouse on the board, 8's full of 9's; then exclaiming to his opponent, Kevin McBride, "You call and it's gonna be all over baby!" Kevin made the call, and Scottie won with a bigger fullhouse than was on the board, 9's full of 8's.

Default EV no it aint

I got it wrong but I would have the 1.5 more chips. Checking is wrong he aint gonna make a bet on the river from a check because he has no value and you would only be able to call if you got him beat. Allin is wrong cus he aint gonna call that bet even if he believes it to be a bluff cus he showed his hand and only an idiot would try that move. So the expected value is not there its a silly idea. A bet of 1.5 may induce his idea to pay you off cus he may believe its a bluff. Chances are he won't call any of the bets on the river after showing you his cards other than a small value bet and if you have a tell he picked up on not even that.
Please quizzy give us a better reason for him to call the allin bet cus I dont see it happening and I don't see the ev in it there either. How can you expect what you will not win. I see allin winning what is in the pot that is all.

Yah to the birds who picked the right (wrong) answer

Default all in

Of course, I would go all in because it will induce him to call because it looks like i am over betting

Agree completely. Got my vote.

I Don't Agree With That Answer For The Following Reason. I Think If You Bet The 1.5, That He Will Think You Were Afraid Of Going All-in And Then He Will Push All-in. Then You Got Him. I Believe That Is Your Best Chance Of Ending It Right There.

i chose to bet 1.5

if you check he's going to check also

if you push he's probably gonna work out tht you're trying to double bluff him and lay it down

so in my opinion the best chance of making some more money in this hand is to bet 1.5

thats just the way i see it

the 1.5 bet makes him have to think about it the most
