I think the most important information here is that, this is high stakes and you are very far from the money with large stacks well over the blinds.
Weither its a pro or not I'll fold.

Well i chose fold to get it right, a fairly obvious decision based on the information we were given (big tourn, a well-known pro, 2500 average, a way till the money).

If i got in this situation myself though im not so sure id fold, i mean i know i can think i could be beat and i definately could fold....but it would be a real test to make seemingly the "correct" decision.

The decision would also depend alot on who the well-known pro is and their general style of play, ya cant just give them credit for a set by default all of the time in that siuation just because they are a well-known pro.

I called. Why should a pro not try to bluff, based on his name and reputation? If to fold AA against a pro is a wise move, everybody would have to fold against a pro.

"Well known pro"...

Well known for what? His aggressiveness? His tight play? Being on tv once or twice? Specifics help here...

His preflop call of our re-raise is not unreasonable, he was getting 2-1 pot odds, and if he hits his set the implied odds are huge since we are one of the "big" stacks.

When he moves all in after being re-raised on the flop, we have to look at our stack vs the blinds and ask ourselves, "Are we pot committed here? No, we still have an M=40(assuming you had $4k after the preflop betting) so we are WAY ahead still.

Could he be bluffing? No, but what kind of hands could he have here, KK QQ JJ 10's 5's or 3's are the only thing I could or would put him on. We are beating the big pairs, but surely he would have pushed back preflop w/ KK and QQ so they seem unlikely. So what are we beating here, JJ?

Given our remaining stack size and the betting to this point, we have to cut our losses and get out. Tournament poker is about survival and chip accumulation. Sometimes that line gets blurred, as we see in Quizzy's case, his eyes were bigger than his hand

I knew exactly where this hand was leading. I figured for set but I still said call and I dont think I would change that.

I agree with the first comment.....Pro or not, losing a hand like that is just bad luck and good luck for the player with the trip 3s however setting up a hand like that is very professional

Playing against a pro is the only reason I would call this hand. I would not put a pro on 33 or 55, maybe on 10,10. What I actually put him on is an over pair or A,K.

I figured he is using his position and table image against you because odds are that flop didn't hit either of us with the action we were presenting preflop. Just because you happened to call and lose doesn't mean it was the wrong play.

Question Very tough decision......??????

The two possible hands i would have put the pro on were A 10......or pocket 10's.......I would not have put him on pocket threes after calling my large raise (9 times big blind)...
......kind of makes you question how good this pro is.....would he have called any raise you through at him.....sounds like it to me....
Its difficult to say if you would really fold here or call if in this situation.......very tough spot to be in.......
