Default How come.......

How come with the quizzes its never a true reflection of the style of play we all see in the first 5 hands in a rail bird tourney? I mean...the quizzes always indicate around 10% of the takers incorrectly selecting to go all in, but when the tournament starts I would say its safe to say, that 20% of the field is going all in within the first 5 hands. Is it because it is a freeroll and just does not mean anything to folks to take a chance and lose?

Unless I have a monster hand I try to avoid playing in the first five hands so that Mr. Donk does not walk away with my chips anymore with his 7 2 offsuit. Because the next time he does that I am going to have to hunt him down and kick him right square in his donkey &%^%$##@@^^& and then *(&(*&%^&%**^&.

Other than that I don't really have an opinion on this. Enjoy your day

sure.....why not throw away some more money......

the other guy called two pot size bets....

he's the one thats thinkin ..."I'm not gonna give up all that money in the pot"

only chance to win is if he thinks you have a king and he doesn't...
.
yer about 99.9% to lose....
.
of course.....only way to win is to bet.....but here I just dont like the odds of other guy folding....
.
(course, I dont know if I woulda made the 1st pot size bet, and I never woulda made the 2nd one and it would be easy to check or fold from there )

shrtstopcwby.....

the question was about a cash game.....not freetard donkament...

having freeroll based quiz question every day would be pointless...
cause there is no right answer for freeroll situations....

doesnt matter what you do...Ive flopped quad jacks,(flop was J,J,7) moved all in....and got called by 9,2 offsuit and lost to double gutshot straight flush

Hi,

I think we miss some info overhere, accept if it is the first hand. I have had a similar situation at stars once. The guy was on a K8 and called all my pot bets down to the river. On the river I did a pot bet, and he re-raised putting me all-in. Unfortunatelly I made the call. So maybe it is the best way to bet the pot, but beaware that it will cost a load of money to do....

cant beat much? cant beat anything but 22 or 23. That is exactly why you bet. You have shown strength the entire hand and then you weaken up on the river with all that money in the pot? You pot bet here to keep the pressure on your opponent. You are most likely not going to be called here. They are going to fold or reraise. I do see why people would check here but it is not the right play. The second you check, you might as well muck your hand and help the dealer push your chips away. If the villain has been slowplaying and reraises, you muck and take the rest of your chip stack (which, per the information, is 4 times the pot after the turn) and wait for another spot. You have plenty of money back to get back to where you were fairly easily.

Poker play is not always about the best cards. If you are at a poker table to "play cards" you will have no clue what these next few sentences mean. A good portion of your time at the poker table will include power plays with bad cards in strong position. You do this to steal and win pots before the showdown. You do not make these bets to see a showdown. Occassionally, these power plays walk right into the nuts. It happens. But, to give up on the river after putting that much effort into the entire hand would simply be idiotic.

Before some genius calls me an idiot for playing this way, (It happens all the time lol) realize that this is my opinion and it comes from a player who sees thousands of hands per week.

Because the quizzes are made to reflect true poker play (or they are supposed to lol). Good luck finding true poker play before the final 5 tables of a Railbirds' FR.

FR's are the best tournaments around to test your level of patience. If you have a lot of patience, you wont have to worry about the first 5 hands of any tournament, much less RB FR's ;-)

I thot about this for about 2 seconds. My pockets are no good. My ONLY chance to win this pot is to bet it. How much? Pot size bet. Period. With a flush draw flop, his check makes me doubt this guy has a K. No bet after the board pairs. Smells like a busted flush draw to me. It's worth the bet.
