I highly recommend : Small stakes Hold'em by Miller, Sklansky and Malmuth for limit hold'em. Reasonably in-expensive and they have a series of books if you grow to a more advanced player or play in tournaments.
Otherwise stick to pairs and suited cards in later position until you get the basics down.
