You limp (erroneously) with Q Q in early position with slightly less than average.

The chip leader makes a pot bet, everybody folds, and you call.

The flop is K 8 3. What's your plan, with 800 left in your stack and 300 in the pot? Your opponent has 4,000.





Check-fold
If you want to play really passively, then sure... But don't you want to try to win the pot? Try betting 250 and see what happens.

Check-call
You have to put your opponent on a bluff in order to check-call, and you also have to believe that he'll keep bluffing, unless you're going to check-call and fold the turn.

It's a very aggressive move, and incorrect against all but the most loose-aggressive players.

Check-raise
Actually, I think all other moves are worse than check-raising here.

Yes, I agree. Let's try to win the pot now, after missing the window twice pre-flop. Betting just beneath pot seems reasonable, doesn't it?

Bet 425
Is it really smart to pot commit yourself by overbetting, when betting 250 will accomplish the same thing?

You could just as well have 72 as QQ here. The only hands that call are better than yours.
