Cheer Up My Daughter with some RB Love

40 2009-04-14 13:16:40

My daughter just got back from the emergency room.  She is a high school cheerleader and messed up her ankle at tumbling class tonight.  Luckily she didn't break it, but she can't put any weight on it for a few weeks.  Her dad got her crutches to help.  Normally this would not be a big topic, but she has her UIL choir contest Thursday and stands on the top riser because her voice projects so well.

But, here is the real downer ..... her choir is taking a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and they leave Thursday night after contest.  She has been waiting for this trip all year.  Bless her heart, she is trying to joke about how she will get to board the plane first and won't have to wait in line for anything, but there are tears in her eyes.

Railbirds have such big hearts, and I would appreciate very much (and I know she will too) if you could show her some love, give her some laughter, and help me send her off with a smile on her face.

Here is a picture of my baby girl at homecoming last fall.  I know mothers are always prejudiced, but she is a really good kid, and I think she is just beautiful!!!  Her name is Kaytla Michelle, but she is very definitely my "Kaytie".  I love her with all my heart and want her to have a great life.

Aw she is cute as a button and i love the name! When i was  in high school i wrestled on the varsity team my freshmena year i won the novice tournament and had a good enough record to  have a good shot at placing in the regionals and go to the state tourney in my freshman year. At our last divisional match i broke my collar bone and my season was over. Then when i was a junior i had not almost as great a shot as i had only one defeat that season. In the divisional tourney finals i got head butted and broke my nose. I won the match but my coach wouldnt let me wrestle in the regional tourney. The guy i beat  with my broken nose went on to win state that year. My senior year i had the flu so bad i couldnt wrestle in the divisional tourney.  As a consolation when the season was over i went to the AAU frestyle wrestling tourney for the whole pacific coast, the guy i beat to win first place....was the guy who won state that year. so i know your daughters pain.

This is so great everyone !!!   Not only have I really enjoyed everyones comments and got some really good laughs, I met two birdies that live in my town, Steavi and txjayhawker.  And to show you what a small small world this is, Steavi's cousin (and txjayhawker's niece) is a cheerleader with Kaytie.

How wild is that !!!!!!!!  Ya gotta love Railbirds.

Sending some railbird love! Disney will be awesome no matter what - just have a good time and make the best of it! Enjoy! When you're having so much fun, you won't even think about the ankle! Who knows it might feel a lot better by then. Good luck in the choir contest as well!

But Disney!!?? WeeeHOOHOooweeeee!!!! Your friends can chauffeur you around the park, try wearing a tierra and decorating your wheelchair with crape paper (let everyone know..a princess is coming through!...don't forget to wave like royalty!) ,you won't have to carry a thing...you got wheels baby!, make sure you clear your friends are out of the way (sure let one buddy hitch a ride...you'll need extra break power!) and take  a downhill zip from Cinderella's Castle to Main street (watch out for those folks with camera's though!), you'll get first of line action in all the rides (woohoo! first row on Space Mountain!), it's much more fun to chase after the Disney characters on wheels, Another helpful hint...as I'm from the Tampa area, the weather is remarkably touchy here...one min bright, sunny and hot, the next pouring freezing rain (freezing rain as I write this) so, bring or buy an extra large poncho and towel, this way you can cover you and your posessions the towel is for you butt...hey don't laugh...those chairs tend to spit water and it seems to find it's way to your backside...and if it does rain...just for more giggles...keep your eyes out for BIG puddles...make sure you have your friends grouped together...then hit that puddles with some speed....SPLAT! Soak em' girl!
I really hope you have loads and loads of fun, & bless your heart I hope your ankle gets better real soon!
Take Care & Peace,
P.S. You have a really cool mom!!! PFFTT..but I'm sure you already know that!:p

She's a beauty and with a smile like that there will be a couple of Sir Galahad's on hand to make sure she has a wonderful time.  Have a ball young lady.  Memories have a way of diminishing the bad times.  God Bless you.;):)

A few years back I sprained my ankle really badly. Couldn't put any weight on it at all. At a local drug store, I found a brace that had plastic inserts to control any lateral movements. Once the brace was on, I could walk (somewhat) pain free. Don't know if will help your daughter out, but it's worth a try.
I hope she has a great trip.:)
