RAILDUDES #5 A55A55IN*Updated*
Aug 26, 2007 7:05 pm Report Abuse

Screenname? A55A55IN on the sites associated with Railbirds, I have another nic I use on a few other sites.
Real Name? David
Birthday? November 12,1970
Astrological Sign?Scorpio....and yes....I do have a stinger. I just don't find much need to use it (sure are a lot of us Scorpios on Railbirds...think it's something in the stars?
)
)Birthplace? Cape Cod Massachusetts
Between Location? I was all over the place as a US Air Force brat until I was 12 and my dad retired and we moved to the Cape permanently. My whole childhood until he retired I spent the summers with my mom at my grandmothers house on the Cape. In high school and until after college I gave into my natural wanderlust. I found myself back home eventually. Theres no place like it.
Current Location?Cape Cod Massachusetts
Things you like most about your current location? No floods, fires, tornadoes, mudslides or earthquakes. Aside from the occasional hurricane and blizzard there are no natural disasters. I need four seasons and the smell of salt air. Being on a peninsula the temperature is moderated; cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter; more so than anywhere else I have ever been.
Things you dislike about your location? The bad traffic in the summertime caused by all the @#$%ing tourists.
Occupation? Quality Inspector at a small factory
What do you like the most about your occupation?Hands on. I get to build and inspect prototypes and dissect failures in standard products to find what went wrong. The LEGO boy in me.
Religion? Raised a catholic but now an agnostic. God Yes, Religion No. I'd pose a question to the fundamentalists of any religion – Would a compassionate God condemn 2/3rds or more of the worlds people to Hell or oblivion? So who is right and who is wrong? I think the only thing that matters is The Golden Rule.
Education? Four and a half years of college but no degree. Studied engineering and then anthropology/archeology.
Single, Married, Divorced or other? Single
Children? none
Pets?2 cats: Merlin The Miraculous Mystical Magician aka M to the 4th, That Darn Cat, or Furball. He got the name since he has white feet and a blaze and when he sits it looks like he has a long white floor length beard. The other is a feral cat that was nesting in a crawlway at work. They were going to put her down and I couldn't stand to let that happen. So after $2000 in vet bills I have a cat that is rarely seen and can only be approached when she's in the one place in the house where she feels safe, other than that she's a ghost. Her name is Morgana Le Fey and let me tell you...unlike in the Arthurian legend Merlin does NOT rule the roost. If he gets uppity she slaps him down. First cat I ever had was Arthur Pendragon. The second was named Percival but he changed his own name to Captain Jack...ask and I'll tell how and why he changed his name.....LOL
Eye Color? Brown
Hair Color? Dark blond (what I say), or light brown (what others say)
Height? 5' 6"
Heritage?Half Lithuanian (mom) and half classic American mutt (dad..... of his half...~1/4 Irish, ~1/6 German, ~1/6 Scottish, ~1/6 English, last 1/4 is the kitchen sink including American Indian, Japanese (300 years ago....another interesting story for the curious to ask about....LOL), and the rest of Europe). How do i know all this?...My fathers first wife and their children are Mormon and thus genealogy nuts

Tattoos? None
Piercings? If yes what and where? Just my left ear. See the story in the comments for a long funny story about how I got THAT.
Best Physical Feature? Sorry, I can't be objective on this.
Boxers, briefs or commando? Boxers (silk preferably)
Right handed or left? Righty
Favorite hobby's? Poker (really?...never would have thought THAT!), and science fiction (both books (I own over a thousand titles) and movies --- hell....if it concerns the future I want to devour it).
Favorite Holiday? 4th of July. There's a big reunion party with a whole bunch of friends every year. We set up our own little fireworks display on a piece of plywood with timed fuse cord and put it on a small rowboat in a pond. Last 4th was the 13th year and the biggest yet with almost $3000 worth of fireworks in the display and it lasted for 25 minutes. Everyone around the pond has friends over to watch the display.
Favorite movie(s)?
#1. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Expanded DVD versions...grew up reading the books....hands down my favorite)
#2. Star Wars (all six...you first trilogy purists can go take a hike)
#3. Boondock Saints
More: Animal House, Caddyshack, Endless Summer, Grosse Point Blank, Braveheart (William Wallace in an ancestor), Sin City (I read and own the comics), Underworld series, Master and Commander ( Patrick O'Brian wrote the books this movie is based on by the way), V for Vendetta (another comic book turned movie), Terminator series, Alien, Aliens. Gotta stop this.....I could go on forever.
Favorite actor? The Best Actor Ever Oscar goes to....(drum roll please)....Al Pacino for "Scent of a Woman". Honorable mention to Robin Williams, the funniest man alive today as well as a dang fine actor.
Favorite actress?Cate Blanchett for skill, Kate Beckinsale for looks (and NO...I do not have a fixation on the name K(C)ate)

Favorite music? Late 80's/early 90's college/alternative/punk rock pre Nirvana and the Seattle scene. Although I like just about anything with a guitar that rocks. Just no gangsta (speak English please) or twangy county (old folk style acoustic or really rockin' stuff doesn't count, it's just those damn twangy guitars)
Favorite song? Too many to list....but right now I'm really into Feist (1,2,3,4...fell in love with the song as soon as I saw the I-Pod commercial), Modest Mouse (for years now but the new album is awesome! Johnny Marr! of the Smiths!), and local Boston favs The Dropkick Murphys (a band about to break big nationally....even though they don't really give a damn)
Favorite band/group/singer?Sublime (my favorite hands down RIP Brad), The Alarm (my fav in high school.), The Police (the first album I bought with my own money) Joy Division, New Order, Love & Rockets, U2, Squeeze, Nine Inch Nails, Johnny Cash, Bad Brains, Pixies, The Clash, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, ZZTop, Beastie Boys, AC/DC, Jane's Addiction, Billy Joel, The Cure The list goes on & on & on and all depends on my mood.
Favorite food? Fresh veggies from the garden: peas (#1), tomatoes, string beans, and summer squashes alongside a good T-bone steak.
Favorite drink? Nonalcoholic: Semi homemade pink lemonade or Barq's root beer. Beer: Corona w/lime. Booze: Single malt whisky. Mixed Drink: Dark and Stormy (Gosslings Black Seal rum and ginger beer). Shot: Slippery Nipple (Sambuca Black and Baileys Irish Cream) or Liquid Cocaine (Goldschläger, Jägermeister and peachtree schnapps).
Favorite ice cream flavor? Homemade: Small strawberries sliced thin and coated with dark chocolate in vanilla ice cream flavored slightly with chocolate and strawberry. Default choice is chocolate though.
Favorite color? Blue
What do you value most? My family and friends and pop culture collection (music, books, comics)
Who do you admire? Anyone and everyone who has ever used their brain to make the world a better place despite having to do it against the odds.
Are you Romantic? If yes how so? I like to think so. It's the small little surprises that do it. Flowers picked from the side of the road, a specially cooked meal, or just a needed but unasked for massage.
Do you have any special talents? Other than a freakish talent for trivia?...not really.
Are you artistic? in which form? Slightly. I dabble in poetry and writing science fiction.
Which countries have u been to? Too many to list. My favorite cities were Amsterdam for the scene, Athens for the history and scenery and anywhere in the Caribbean for the weather and .
Which countries would you like to visit? Down under (get your minds out of the gutter
...that means Australia)
...that means Australia)Favorite place to go on vacation? I'd have to say Washington D.C. I find myself going there for a week every two or three years to visit the Smithsonian Institution.
What do you appreciate the most in life? Good times with good friends
What accomplishments are u very proud?Being an Eagle Scout. Hiking the whole New England stretch of the Appalachian Trail. Getting second place in the Mass State Science Fair my senior year in high school ( Superconductivity in Yttrium Barium Cupric Oxide Superconductors as a Result of Variations in Oxygen Uptake and Assimilation During Production). Not killing (although it was a close call) a former best friend who KNEW my history and how I'd react, when I caught him with my girlfriend of 2 years. (He later got what he deserved: they got married, she got the waterfront house that had been in his family for over 100 years when they divorced, then she tore it down, built a McMansion and sold it for 2 million and moved to Miami with their son.....SUCKER. Glad it happened to him not me.)
If you could have 1 wish come true what would it be? Find a woman who can be more than a friend (one who won't stab me in the back) and start a family.
If you were stranded on a desert island what is the one thing you couldn't live without? A deck of cards?...LOL. A shortwave radio so I can get music and keep informed of whats happening in the world.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pick one...
Pepsi or Coke? Coke
McDonalds or Burger King? Mickey D's
Beer or Whiskey? Beer (pale American pilsner, none of that microbrewed crap (I like to drink my beer not eat it) or a very fine single malt whisky (note the lack of an "e". Thats how to tell the difference between a good booze and that blended crap)
Blind or group dates? Blind Date to start, I like to get to know them first. Then we can talk about the group date thing.
Silent or noisy? Noisy, I always have something on in the backround.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate
Lipton Ice Tea or Nestea? Neither...Arizona Iced all the way
Black or White? White (but its a shame since the world seems intent on turning it a thousand shades of gray....and it's blurring more all the time....alas)
Cats or dogs? Cats. They think for themselves
Love or Money? Love....and lots of it
Love or Lust? Love....used to be the other (young mans disease)
Make love or Make war? Make Love
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do you...
Smoke? Yes
Swear? Never around a lady (that does not mean all women...it means CLASSY ones)
Sing? Only when alone unless the music is loud enough to drown me out or I'm three sheets to the wind.
Use drugs? Now?...only booze and what my doctor says. In the past? you name it...I tried it.
Fight often? Nope (Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent - Salvador Hardin)

Believe in Yourself? Hell Yes
I love to feel the rain in the summertime
I love to feel the rain on my face
Think you are attractive? I think so...but doesn't everyone?
Think you are intelligent? I know I am. 710 MSAT/740 VSAT, 700+ on 8 diff ACT, 650+ on 3 others, 165 IQ (lowest score of 5 different tests), passed the Mensa members test (they're are just too damn geeky and boring...math and verbal puzzles?...fun?!...thats why god invented the calculator and the computer for Pete's sake!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever……
Been Drunk? Yes, many times. See the story in the comments for one good story
Been high? Yes, many times in the past. See the story in the comments for one good story
Been Lost? Yes - but only because I wasn't driving or because it was on purpose. Anytime I was someplace new and was going to be there for a while I'd drive around and get lost on purpose then find my way back. I'm not one of those guys who thinks it's unmanly to ask directions either...LOL
Been Called a Player? No...you're lookin at the original playa hater
Been in Love? Yes
Been in an Accident? LOL....between the ages of 4 and 14 I spent half my life on crutches, in casts, or the hospital simply because I was young, stupid, and invincible. I learned my lesson and since then have been relatively unscathed.
Been in a Bar Fight? Yes...and beaten up (but let me tell you.....revenge was sweet. Another good story if anyone wants to ask)
Been to a Strip Club? Yes. I could go every day but it gets boring......and expensive. There is one about 15 minutes from home, I've know the manager for years (we went to high school together) and I don't have to pay the cover - I go in the back door.
Been Heartbroken? Too many times
Had a One Night Stand? Not since my early 20's
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What do you look for in a partner…….
ok...I caught a little flack in PMs for not really answering this. I said it "doesn't matter" to most of these the first time around and it really doesn't. This time, however, I underlined my “perfect" woman
Favorite Eye Color? Doesn't really matter....... Blue
Favorite Hair Color? Doesn't really matter....... Dark Brown/Black
Favorite Womans Panties? Not grannies......... Thong
Short or Long Hair? Doesn't really matter......... Shoulder length
Breast Size? Doesn't really matter..................... 34-38 C/D ..what can I say...I suffer from IMBF(Irish Male Breast Fixation
)
)Height? Amazons need not apply....................... 5 foot 4
Weight? Not Obese........................................... 110-130 Lbs.
Clothing Style? Not high maintenance
Lingerie or underwear? I'm a man...what do you think?! lingerie!
Pants or skirts? Skirts and dresses, short of course...but not indecently so.
What other qualities do you look for in a mate? Trustworthiness and a stable personality. I'd have said red hair for favorite hair color...but I've NEVER know a truly stable redhead.
Intelligence? After Trustworthiness this is the most important to me. She'd have to have a brain and be able to use it to solve her own problems. I'm perfectly willing to help but she needs to be able to articulate the problem if she wants any help. I'm not a mind reader or a good reader between the lines

Anything else you would like to share with the ladies of Railbirds?
A few quotes, a poem and the story behind it, and a couple more quotes
The more you love, the more you can love -- and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had time enough, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just. --- Lazarus Long
If I speak in tongues of men and of angels but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal; and if I have prophetic powers, understand all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.--- The Apostle Paul in Corinthians
Put your hand on a stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT’S RELATIVITY. --- Albert Einstein
The heart is an ever amazing thing to me, every time I perceive a limitation to it, it proves to me it goes still deeper. It’s ever growing, expanding, forgiving, learning and accepting. No matter how many times a heart breaks it has the ability to come back and love again. The heart doesn't understand giving up or cutting itself off, nor does it understand limiting the amount of love given or the number of people given to. Oh yes, we can block it with our minds, protect it to some extent but, the heart itself, has no concept of self preservation. It’s only thought is to love, openly, freely, fully without thoughts of caution for the possibility of future hurts. What an amazing, wonderful thing........
When I was in high school I wrote the poem that follows. I was sitting in the back of a two period (90 min) AP trigonometry class and had finished a test early. So I was reading a book when the teacher told me to put it away. I asked him what else I should do. He said to study. I never did study, I just read and remembered. So I took out a notebook and wrote the poem that follows. A few weeks later my English teacher announced that the school was having a poetry contest and that the top five winners of each class would have their poems entered in a statewide contest. I entered the poem in the contest for sophomores and I was one of the top five. The poem went on to win an honorable mention (top ten) in the statewide contest. This was in 1986. Why do I bring this up? If a student these days turned a poem like this in to a teacher they'd most likely get suspended or expelled. Over reacting to creative students who just need a channel for their energy to be directed down is one of the biggest tragedies I see these days. It's all so homogeneous its almost fascist. I wrote this and I turned out just fine. So would most, if society didn't make them jump at their own shadows.
(The first time around I did it from memory. I found the published copy and have made a few alterations to get it right this time)
While I feel the time go by
I sit and stare at a book
The teachers such a jerk
All I wanna do is fly
With guns and missiles fully armed
I fly high above the masses
I think of what I could put in caskets
I think of what I could harm
Watch'em scurry and try escapin'
As I open fire on the hordes
Leavin' town in their Chevys and Fords
When all I'm doin' is shootin'
Cars explode and stomachs churn
While people hide and flee
It's all it's cracked up to be
I'll never crash and burn
I see blips upon my screen
Here come others to shoot me down
All they are is a bunch of clowns
While all I do is preen
They engage me but I'm the best
I turn n' dive n' evade n' loop
An' shoot 'til they fly the coop
The only damage is a shot in the chest
I feel my life seep out of me
In the form of bright red blood
It reminds me of Noah's flood
As I crash into the sea
If all those about you are going crazy then perhaps you have misunderstood the situation.--- Anonymous, found on the walls of the Sarajevo Olympic Stadium after the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War
There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of it’s continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities.--- Theodore Roosevelt
Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.--- Martin Luther King Jr.

Great interview. I say go Reds, you gotta love hearing that, and to top it of my wife is a Yankee fan. But don't hold that against us.
