** BIRD FEED #99 MrsMagoo **

Aug 16, 2007 8:23 pm Report Abuse

Railbird name: MrsMagoo
Age: 36
Gender: 100% woman
Location: Sydney Australia
Years Playing Poker: just over 1
Fav. game: NL holdem
Fav hand: 7 4 offsuit LOL
Fav Poker Site: Tilt for the layout, Stars for the play
PS ID: MrsMagooo
FTP ID: Mrs Magoo

#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
I used to say "i love you Mr Magoo" to Wall all the time, figured might as well be the missus

#2 How many hours each day/week spent playing poker on?
too many and not enough....weekdays maybe 3 to 4 hours, once babies are in bed, and weekends i try to get a little more in, specially if i can jump into a deep stack, theres 8 hours right there

#3 How would you define your style of play?
as patient as a rock, tight and aggressive but it really comes down to my table

#4 Poker Achievements?
won several tourneys but my favourite is still a $2.25 tourney i played with against Chris Ferguson, one hand he played me like a fiddle, but it was all good, i came back to win it all, and i really didn't mind being played by my hero lol

#5 what brought you to join railbirds in the first place, and what keeps u here ?
i was lucky enough to be playing against sqrltyler and he told me about railbirds, once i came i was hooked, now theres no getting rid of me, i have met some amazing wonderful people, and can't go a day without reading blogs for at least an hour, but it is also a place i can come to when i need to get away from the tables, if i have copped another horror beat or whatever, railbirds gives me a place to come and let off steam and chillax and start smiling again

#6 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why?
Chris Ferguson, just for the simple fact that i think he is a legend.....he's outplayed me once, i won't let him do it again

#7 how have you improved your game...was it by lots of practice, was it by books you have read and if so, which books, was it by playing live ??
lots and lots and lots of practice mixed in with plenty of patience, i've read a few books, Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Phil Gordon, Phil Helmuth, David Skalansky.........i don't get to play much live having six kids, but that will change as they get a little older

#8 What advice for somebody starting to play?
be patient, do not get frustrated the first time u lose with the best hand, it happens, go back over it and see if u could have done anything differently.....do not underestimate a chip and a chair, never give up even if it looks next to impossible to come back.......and the best bit of advice i can give?? LOVE THE GAME, if u don't love it, don't play it

#9 I would be interested in knowing how many Railbirds played seriously competitve games such as Poker, Chess, Risk, etc., at a young age?
when i was younger we had a games night every Sunday night, played things like Cribbage, Rummy, Euchre, Checkers, MahJong, scattergories, balderdash and stuff like that, got to a point where my Dad wouldn't play crib with me anymore, cause he could never beat me lol

#10 How do you play differently in tournaments vs. cash games?
I don't play cash games that often, but when i do i do like to see a lot more cheap flops, when i play a MTT i like to keep tight for the first hour, after my image is established then i have free reign lol

#11 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
i need to find my insanity gene.......

#12 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online Poker player is bluffing ?
size of bets in relation to a pot,i had a huge chip stack pushing the table round the other day, as soon as i worked out his betting patterns, he was just free chips for me heehee

#13 How Has Railbirds.com helped your game play?
half the time just having a railer or 2 ( or 30 ) stops me from doing anything stupid, i LOVE having people on the rail (specially when they start shaking their pom poms for me)

#14 Most embarrassing moment in a live trny ?
was playing in a game at the APL while i was very pregnant, at one point i kinda flinched and grabbed my tummy, and everyone jumped up from the table within a second, i had had a slight contraction, they were sure i had gone into labour lol......think they were worried their feet were gonna get wet

#15 Most recent trny win?: (non railbird trny)

won $75 last night in a $5 tourney, 3rd place which wasn't bad as i had been severly short stacked when we hit the final 18

#16 Largest amount won in a trny?
about $800 in a $5 buy in, not to bad a return on my money

#17 How does your strategy help in Freerolls provided by Railbirds.com?
i actually don't play the freerolls, though i have jumped into a HORSE one for a giggle.......i would prefer not to take a chance away from someone that needs to build their bankroll, and when i play HORSE there is no worries of that lol

#18 Any tips for Railbird members when sitting at a table with you lol ???
have fun, bring ur best game and if i go all in after the flop, chances are u will need to hit runner runner to beat me lmao

#19 Where do you see your self in 1 year playing poker?
well i hope to still be helping people get their bankrolls started (like the C+B at the moment), would like the Sunday Millions to be a game i would be playing weekly, and hopefully playing a lot more live

#20 What other Hobbies do you have besides playing poker?
playing with the kids, photography, scrapbooking, watching movies, listening to music (anything but country), the beach, drawing, reading.........the list goes on and on lol

thanx cpt for having me, and thank you railbirds for being such a great place to be

thanks for choosing Mrs Magoo - was a great interview. Mrs - with all the practice you are getting, and the level you are at now, you are gonna be one hell of a live player when those kids grow up.
