Poker Books

Aug 14, 2007 7:23 pm Report Abuse

I just got back from vacation and while in the mountains read Phil Gordon's Little Green Book which is very good. It just reminded me of the things I do well, the things I need to do better and of course the things I suck at.

What I was wondeing if anyone else has some good poker books they would recommend?

If you enjoyed the Little Green Book you should pick up the Little Blue Book. Phil Gordon goes through a bunch of hands he played in his career and analysez them. This is a good way to illustrate all the concepts in the Green Book.

For tourney play the serie of books by Dan Harrington (Harrington on Hold'Em 1, 2 & 3) are terrific. Probably the best out there.

If you want good basics on other games than No Limit Hold'Em try picking up Doyle Brunson's SuperSystem 2. Covers quite a few games that are currently played all over the place. Doesn't really go in depth with these games but should help give you solid basics.

Check out Supersystem 2, or my favourite Ace on the River by Barry Greenstein. It talks a lot about bankroll management which seperates the real pros from the Matusow s out theresmile

David Sklansky's, "Theory of Poker". Doyle Brunson's, "Super Sytem I and II". Phil Hellmuth's "Play Poker Like the Pros". A few suggestions.

It seems that Sklanky's books are recommended by other pros

SHAMLESS PLUG

http://www.railbirds.com/blog/76477

I've just started doing a series of blogs on various poker books that allows our fellow railbirds to add their comments and collect them all in one easy to find place.

So far I've only done two books, but I plan on adding 2 -3 each week.

Please take a few moments to look at the current reviews (and add your comments if you've read the book.)

Thanks,

TRB
