Railbird name: Astrogini
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Years Playing Poker: over 4 years for sure,
Fav. game: NLHE
Fav hand: QQ
Fav Poker Site? Poker Stars br />
#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
It’s the name I use just about everywhere. Astro because I’m a big fan of the Houston Astros and Gini (pronounced Jeanie incase you weren’t sure) is what most of my friends call me. It’s a nickname I have had all my life, I use to hate being called by my real name.

#2 How many hours each day/week spent playing poker on?
Too many! lol probably around 5-8 hours per day, depending on how long I last in the tournaments that I enter for the day and what I’m currently doing that day. (I’m a really good multi-tasker)

#3 How would you define your style of play?
Tight Aggressive, but I can also change pace depending on the table.

#4 Poker Achievements?
2nd place in a RB Freeroll, 6th place in a $.10 tournament with 2454 entrants, and 6th in a $1.10 tournament with 1309 entrants, are the proud ones that I’ve had.

#5 what brought you to join railbirds in the first place, and what keeps u here ?
The freerolls and I liked the thought of being able to talk to people that shared the same interest as me and see what sort of tips, etc I could pick up from other players.

#6 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why?
Hmmm, that’s a hard one. I really don’t know. I’m gonna go with LoLiPoP, because that would mean that I’ve reached the next goal that I have set for myself and that’s to take 1st in the Monthly Rankings.

#7 how have you improved your game...was it by lots of practice, was it by books you have read and if so, which books, was it by playing live ??
Practice, practice, practice… I’m really not much of a book reader.

#8 What advice for somebody starting to play?
Set small, reachable goals for yourself. Whether they are daily, weekly and when you’ve reached them, make the next one harder, etc. Take one day at a time and realize that bad beats/bad plays are going to happen and try not to let them get to you. It’s hard trust me, but you can’t play mad. Tilt is bad for the bankroll! Also, to try to avoid the play money tables if you can. They really don’t improve your game. Enter the freerolls, and if you have to play with the play money, try tournaments they’re a little bit better than the tables.

#9 I would be interested in knowing how many Railbirds played seriously competitve games such as Poker, Chess, Risk, etc., at a young age.
I’ve always been competitive at board and card games like Backgammon, Risk, Rummy, Monopoly, etc..

#10 How do you play differently in tournaments vs. cash games?
I would say yes, to a point. There’s times when it seems as though I play a little looser at a table game, but it really depends on how the table is playing and what I think I can get away with.

#11 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
Although patience is very important there’s times when I don’t think I make my move soon enough or that I’m tooo patient.

#12 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online Poker player is bluffing ?
Over bets sometimes are a good tell, depending on how they’re playing. The whole waiting or quickly acting thing sometimes, but honestly there’s times when I do one or the other just to mess with everyone head.

#13 How Has Railbirds.com helped your game play?
It’s taught me that everyone has their own thoughts and styles of play. There’s not a right way nor a wrong way to play poker, that you play how you feel comfortable. We might not agree, but that’s why each and everyone of us is unique. I feel more challenged by some of the members on this site, so it’s forced me to step up my game play to keep up with them, or try at least. I also think it’s boosted my confidence level, given myself more faith in my abilities.

#14 Do you use the "notes" section on poker sites and does it help your game play?
Occasionally I do, but as players continue to play they often change their play and I was finding that it’s not always reliable. So now I tend to use the “Idiot scale” I1-I5 I5 being a total idiot. lol
#15 Most recent trny win?: (non railbird trny)
a 2-Table $1.75 Sit and Go on Poker Stars br />
#16 Largest amount won in a trny?
$46

#17 How does your strategy help in Freerolls provided by Railbirds.com?
I seem to be fairly consistent in the tournaments, so I THINK I’m doing something right.

#18 Any tips for Railbird members when sitting at a table with you lol ???
Yes, be nice to me and have fun!

#19 Where do you see your self in 1 year playing poker?
Hopefully playing higher stakes than I currently am, but I’m not in a rush.

#20 Is there anything else you would like people to know about yourself that is poker-related or even non-poker related?
MartyJr2 was the one that introduced me to this great and wonderful site. I owe him a million and one thanks! I love to joke around and have fun. I also enjoy golf, it’s about as frustrating as poker at times, but it sure is fun chasing that little white ball around. And of course, I LOVE RAILBIRDS!

I also want to say thank you, CPT for this wonderful opportunity. It’s a great thing that you do for all of us, and we love it!

Thank you, Gini - for sharing with us in this interview & for all you do to make RB.com fun! Just as BirdFeed is the spot for learning further about individual members (thanks to cptmorgan), Gini's idea is to gather all the bounties and have them located in one "easy-to-find" place - you'll find them on her page - check 'em out.

Again, thanks for the contributions you make to help us all enjoy this place (& our interactions with oneanother) just a little bit more - and don't let that little white ball "drive" you crazy (although putting might ...).

Joroco, Thank you so much for your compliment. It really made me smile. I absolutely LOVE helping other people and Railbirds, so it's a great fit for me.

Oh, and I LOVE the pun! Not to mention it's hard to do since I'm already there. smile
