kingsfull58 memorial tournament, take 2

Jun 16, 2007 12:46 pm Report Abuse

Well, as you might have heard by know, it turns out that kingsfull58 wasn't dead after all. Apparently the whole story was a very sick, fabricated joke by his ex-girlfriend - an action taken which disgusts as all, but the most important thing is that kingsfull58 is alive.

The "memorial" tournament will still be played, but re-named to "Railbirds Spirit Charity Tournament", in celebration of the fantastic and warm family spirit this community has brought forward. It is of course sad that this spirit was misused in a sick joke. But remember, it is always better to care, if only a little, than to not care at all. So we will all look out for each other even in the future.

The tournament will still be played at Poker Stars Saturday the 23rd, at 3pm ET. You need only have a correct screen name for Stars in your profile by Tuesday in order to get a ticket to the tournament, which you will need to use yourself in order to enter.

We will still let the winner choose which charity organization to donate $500 to, and there will still be no prizes. We hope that this will be a way for all of you to keep showing the railbirds spirit.

(Please note that the $500 will be paid out by us to the charity specified - not paid out to the winner of the tournament.)

very nice idea RailJoe!
in my opinion we should play it every year then. in memory of this days where we showed what a wonderful, familiar and helping family we all are here! the last days showed this very well and i think we should not forget it but remember every year.
this was a really sick joke but all railbirds showed what this community and the people in it mean to them. this was very nice to see and should never be forgotten.

Well done RailJoe. I think it is a wonderful idea. I will be more than happy to be there and thanks for having me. I agree this is a family here and a very strong one at that. I have never been so proud to be apart of anything as I am to be a part of this railbird family. We have our differences and our problems and yes even our fights but when it comes down to it we all come together and we support, care and yes even love each other. Like I said I am proud of my railbird family and I love them all. Take care all. Peace!

Omg I just woke up and read this. how utterly disgusting to do such a cruel thing. The positive that came from this is however WONDERFUL! I am glad such a young life was not taken and i feel for Kings in another way now. HE must have been so shocked himself. There are some sick people in this world and besides bringing this community together he should be thrilled he is rid of her!! GL in the tourney ...Fluffy

rolleyes just thinking hard here, but maybe the winner might think about donating the winnings into a special account for the specific use of RB members who lose a loved one over the next year. That way, if we continue these "spirit" freerolls, we would be building a nice little nestegg towards having a fund that might help get a family or survivor thru what is (in my case and others i have talked to) the absolute worse time of their lives. Like something more than flowers and a card for example. Just a thought, just a thought. i.e. it costs $1160.00 just to have me mom cremated. That's with absolutly no frills at all. PLUS another 426.00 FOR FILLING AND DEATH CERT. FEES. Medicare will pay $250.00 when they get the death cert. and get around to it. So we could be building a fund towards helping a family with no insurance get thru a hard time. Like I say just a thought, seeing as how i am living it right now.....

Awesome idea...Thanks Joe..My choice of charity would be the American Cancer Society...Both my parents are battling cancer now...Dad with lung cancer and Mom with brain cancer...I would like to find a cure so that no one has to see their parents struggle for life daily!

Have a great day!

I'm so glad that Raibirds will continue with this Charity Tournament. I always live by "Things Aren't Always As They Appear" and what a community to rally around a member that had to be totally embarrased and make apologies for something they didn't do. This was not a practical joke, it was malicious and affected everyone on this site. What a good way to promote the true, earnest, wonderful, caring, people that belong to Raibirds. This can turn a sad experience into a rewarding experience for this community.

May it be a fun, laughter full tournament and may a great charity be rewarded.

Thank you!

What a wonderful idea. It should be a blast!!!! I have lost family members and friends to cancer, so I will be playing for a donation to the American Cancer Society. I also like cudgell's idea about donating the winnings into a special account for the specific use of RB members who lose a loved one. Have fun birdies.

A very nice gesture RailJoe thank you

As our British friends are fond of saying "Brilliant" Joe! Something positive that we can all take away from what could have been tragic. And since kingsfull seems to be such a beloved member of the community, we can celebrate his phoenix like rise from the ashes of that fictitious car wreck and applaud his resurrection, enjoy the good will we've discovered in each other and toast a wonderful card playin community such as this. Fantastic!
