Royal Flushes

Feb 9, 2010 6:07 pm Report Abuse

Although I've been playing cards all my life, I only encountered Texas Hold'em about four years ago when for a hoot and a holler a buddy got us into one of those gigantic freerolls at Pokerstars. I now play most every day, over 1200 hands yesterday. But I'm not as experienced as many others. So it was always with a small tinge of jealousy and envy that I watched and congratulated others when they made Royal flushes. Heavens, I've seen folks just here at Railbirds who've had many Royal Flushes, even sometimes a couple within hours of each other.

But, yesteday after about 45 years, I joined the club!

Ain't that sweet? It was so nice to finally get one, I didn't even mind not seeing another hand and finishing third. I sure hope it don't take another 45 years for the next one to come along.

So, for all of you that haven't had one yet - trust me, they're out there just waiting for you to find them.

Calling with KQ with a Jack on the board always seems very puzzling to me! Maybe i have more to learn. You had a gut shot at best or 2 over cards at the worst. I need to start playing like that, so I can get a Roya Flush. Unless I flop one, I will probably never get one. Since, i am from the Old School where Royals are so very rare because you almost have to chase them to get them. Oh well.
