Milquetoast the Cockroach is the little purple guy. Milquetoast was the first cockroach to become a significant player in the comic (there had been cockroaches in "Bloom County" before). First appearing in the strip's later years, he is a purple cockroach with a large nose, and is often depicted as disgusting and unsavory. He is the recurring nemesis of Opus (my main man!), and also one of the original "Bloom County" characters to cross over into "Outland" (too much trivia?), where he became a major player. In that strip, he is revealed to be an occasional cross-dresser, which (for those of you who play in Krabbe's games) explains much about Joris.
