Morning everbody
Looks like we made it through yet another Christmas.Hope everbody had a most wonderful time.I know there was a few that spent the day by them selves, and was so sorry to hear that. Notice I didn't say alone. For they will never be alone, though we as railbirds hant there with them in body, I know we are in mind and friendship. Now I guess we got to make it through the next few days, and then see what the New year will bring forth. Hopefully it will bring happiness and prosperity to all.
My dear friend Sweets, says the world hant ready for 2 hillie's. But ready or not, there is now. My very best friend Charlie, who is no longer with us. His daughter Sarah, I have called twinkie since she was born. Got married about a year ago. She gave birth to a boy last Thursday. She called me Saturday and announced she named him Hillie. Hillie Jacob Monroe. Now ya can bet, I was as proud as a peacock with it's tail feathers spread. They live in Kansas, and will be home sometime this coming spring. Sure can't wait to see him, and twinkie as far as that goes. So watch out world, another hillie will take over someday. Hant got no pics yet of him. She needs to get another camera, her's quit working I guess. Her hubby to whom I only saw briefly before they left. Has a dang good job with some electric company there, and doing very well. So that makes me more happy for her.
We are down to a littleless then 2 feet of snow now. Have had a few rain days, and took lot of it with it. Hant sorry to see that for sure. I guess though with in the next couple days, we can expect another big episode of that white stuff again. At least, got a place to put it for a while anyways.
Right now, I'm in the middle of making yet some more venison jerky. Got more to get sliced up,but can't get to far ahead of myself. Got 1 batch soaking in my brine, and another 1 ready for it. Very shortly, I will be puting the batch soaking in the dehydrator, and get the other 1 in the brine. This is the last time to make it for this year. Hant soory about that neither, it's a total pain right in the butt to make.
Last thursday, I got a call from my good friend Joe. (Omega Man). He is doing good, and was all ready for Christmas. Sure do miss him on here. He is going to try again after the first of the year, to see if he will be allowed to come back to us. I sure do hope amongest all hopes, he will be able to. I will be sending him some jerky this week, but not what he wants. And that's my recipe for it. This time, I used yet another of my old recipies, but will be ever bit as good, (I hope). I will have enough extra to send out a little for a taste to at least 3 more on here. Guess the only way I can do that,is the first 3 addresses I get is the way it goes. Don't forget to send your full name, will kind of need that lol. Sorry folks, but if ya live in Canada, I hant allowed to send any kind of food items there. It sucks, but that's the customs law. Why I can send it anywhere else in the world is far beyond me, but not there. Maybe someday that will change I don't know.
Hant got no plans for New Years eve. More then likely, will just spend a quiet evening at home. Or maybe go to my sister Nancy's and play some music for a spell. Guess I will know more about that later. I guess kind of depends on the weather more then anything. She don't live that far from me, but it sure can be a night mare if it's snowing like crazy. To go to my other sister Mona's, she lives even farther and the roads are more rugged. Going up Mooney mountain and geting back down hant no fun in a snow storm. I hant one to stay over much kind of like my own bed, unless i'm traveling.
Taht's about it from this part of the world. Got to get the ole dehydrator filled and more in the brine. Until next time, put a smile on your lips, happy thoughts in your head, and a twinkle in your eye. Ole hillie loves ya all.

Thats such an honor when someone names their child after you. I also wanted to let you know I truly enjoy your blogs, so refreshing, and thoughtful, a much needed change from most of the reading around here...thanks for taking the time to post them!
What an Honor !.... That just goes to show the character they have seen in you, otherwise they wouldn't consider naming a child after you. ...I guess that is about the best compliment someone colud give a man !....Congratulations !
We always just hung the slices of meat on the oven racks, set it to 150, and left the door open about a quarter of the way, did a lot of jerky that way when I was growing up, just have to watch it when it is close to done to make sure you get it off before it dries out too much.
Have a Great New Year !
....Tc....

Thank ya kindly Tc my friend. Yes it was and is an honor, one I never in a hundred years expected to happen. As the ole saying goes, "always expect the unexpected". Guess I don't need to tell ya, how happy I am about that.
I to, used to do my jerky in the oven. But found electric ovens don't work as well as gas ones do. So went to the dehydrator system. Takes longer, but does an awesome job. Take care my friend, have a wonderful day.
lol Scotty, don't know why he would be pissed at ya, but sure will say hi to him for ya though.
I thought I would try once before to send some into Canada, but it was confinscated at the customs place. Never did get it back, bet they ate it. Maybe some day that will change.

Not very often do we get to see how much we mean to someone else. But to have a child named after you is about the greatest honor there is in my book. Sorry for not being around lately but any time I get on line I always take the time to read your blogs. Always refreshing.
