What I am going to do is show part of the hand, then later after some discussion, the results of that hand.

Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but did I play it right given the circumstances. I will welcome any and all criticism, kudo's and tips. Please keep it civil.

Here I am in a hand about half way ITM.... I have 20 BB's left and am looking to chip up some before the blinds go up when I get this hand....

Full Tilt Poker Game #15519580700: Daily Dollar (112654794), Table 703 - 800/1600 Ante 200 - No Limit Hold'em - 0:03:38 ET - 2009/10/23

bigpoppaboats raises to 12,800
NHStoneFace folds
James151 folds

Good, not all in pre and I have enough left to dump if I have to , give us a flop dealer, would have rather been me making bet first so I could set the price but...

*** FLOP *** ThQcAc
defishman bets 25,600
bigpoppaboats has 15 seconds left to act

I really didn't care for that flop and he shoves at me, enough to force me allin, I must be behind my only salvation is a gutshot king, whats that 3 outs twice if he doesn't improve... what to do what to do....

I swear by god and sonny jim I meant to fold this hand and I misclicked.... My jaw hit the floor and I had to rewind the hand to see what happened as I was in shock.

Seat 5: NHStoneFace folded before the Flop
Seat 6: James151 (button) folded before the Flop
Seat 7: BuckSarge (small blind) folded before the Flop

Yep, could have salvaged it easy but I misclicked myself into the walk of shame. You can see by my comment that I had resolved to fold. But NoooOOo had to get a case of dumbfinger =0)

First and foremost, I had no business being in this hand with a big stack. I married the idea of chipping up with it and that is where things started to get funky. His 4X BB raise pre should have been my first clue that I was up against 2 overcards at best and maybe a higher pair at worst. Couple that with the fact that he had me grossly outchipped and those JJ shoulda been mucked pre flop with the quickness.

An , yes, if I were to play this hand after his raise, the best way to do it would be to either reraise allin, or just call.

This is just a good example of a good idea gone wrong and a total misplay of the hand.

TY all who took the time to read and post. I will have these out every tuesday. Might eventually switch to a different day; or extend the time I show the result by a day to give more people time to participate.

I'd fold, but I play way too tight. He's either got you covered or a small PP and trying to push you out. Choose your destiny.

JJ is sooooo bad for me. I'd fold preflop!!!! HAHAH.. maybe not, but i'm better off folding it with the horrible luck I have with jacks. After that flop I SHOULD fold .. BUT.. what would you do?
iHATEftp Oct 28, 2009 5:42 am
1st, I'd go puke. Then come back and muck
cheeezytot Oct 28, 2009 5:49 am
id probably just shove it preflop after his raise and seal my faith right there but considering what ur asking us id fold it right there also ... afterall im left with a few blinds and u still got ur chance to double up! i personnally think it would be a useless move to call the allin especially if ur looking for a 3 outer but again thats my personal view
TheAlchemist54 Oct 28, 2009 5:59 am
it is an easy fold

its moments like this one that you think about why they even have J's in the deck my brother........I would fold but that would only be because later that tournament I would rip him a new one. I'm a big believer in survival in a tournament.......pay back is a *****. I get great satisfaction when the opportunity presents its self just a couple of hands later...you know when he thinks your on tilt or frustrated......I would fold and wait.

hmmmm I'll make an attempt at discussion lol

first off its the daily dollar so without any other info on defishman i'd say it smells like a steal attempt with murdaz in the big blind and a raise 4x but when he calls your re-raise instead coming over top of your raise I would probably narrow his range a bit. I wouldn't say he has a big pair (no AA,KK,or QQ) but possibly a smaller pair no bigger than 10's, any suited ace, suited face cards, possibly J10 suited & ace rag is always a possibility in the daily dollar. After the flop he either has you or he doesn't & i'd say without a read on him or his style of play i'd give him credit for at least an ace especially in the daily dollar there's a high likelihood he has one. but my instinct says call for some reason, I actually might've shoved pre-flop with because about 10k chips were already in the pot). but you did say you left yourself enough chips to let go of the jacks post-flop so i think you probably fold and waited for a better spot to double up (which a high percentage of the time is the right play to make)

usually pocket jacks are a coin flip against 2 overs so your usually ahead on the flop .How I play them from the get go depends on how the tables been playing and position. If I really dont want a call I push allin to let them no Im strong. My play will dictate that to others (I seldom bluff)the other move depending on position again would be too raise min 3x just too see a flop.I could not put myself allin on a 3 outer but thats me.
curtinsea Oct 28, 2009 3:20 pm
you only beat a bluff, and have zero show down value, so it's an obvious fold. It sucks, but that's what you should do. What you might do is call all in and suck out and and fuel to the conversation about how rigged online poker is! lol

Good players play the probabilities, not the possibilities, and you are probably beat here.

It's said that there are only two ways to play JJ, and they are both WRONG!
curtinsea Oct 28, 2009 3:23 pm
the min raise is bad, you should have shoved or folded, imo.
nickouttabeer Oct 28, 2009 3:25 pm
i would have flat called his raise in the first place. unless your move was all in then you are just adding chips to the pot for no reason......
curtinsea Oct 28, 2009 3:26 pm
I take that back about zero showdown value, you do have a pair of Jacks. Still think you are likely behind. I would come over the top all in preflop.

I agree with PINKBUNNIES, with some info added. If I read it correct you have position on "defishman" so his bet on the FLOP leaves you with little options; you fold. If I did the math right you need to call $25,600 to win approx. $23,000. You have approx. $18000 left BUT ONLY if you put him on a Ax, Kx, or Qx. All reasonable holdings with the call rather than re-raise.from "devilfish" Speaking of which, why such a small re-raise? $6400 gives you no information at all on his hand.

Since you are not in a coin flip; you fold. If he has a lower pair 9,9 or lower it is 87% vs. 11% win for you if you call. If he has any Ax it's a 75% vs 25% to him; you fold. Any Qx the same, respectfully. Any Kx 85% you loose. Yet against any Random hand its 70% WIN and 25% LOOSE.

You sound like you want to win so I have a funny feeling you folded but with $18000 left why would you. You left yourself with little left and the blinds going up. You need to call and hope for the best considering his position and goofy call to the re-raise. You call.

Great and astute responses so far , TY all who post.

Tonight 8:00 pacific time I will show the rest.

Peace, BPB

My only question is like another comment why the min reraise? After his bet there is 10,600 chips in the pot, with your reraise it goes up to 23,400 giving him about a 5:1. I doubt after raising oop he is folding especially since you have given him the pot odds to call. After the flop I probably fold depending on his past plays. I believe I wouldve reraised all in preflop (probably lost), and given him a harder decision on whether to call or not.
WOOF_TICKETS Oct 28, 2009 5:29 pm

Well.........if you have been playing him for awhile you may have a read on his type of play, and betting style. Sooooooooooooo....

If he has been playing tight, and not trying to buy pots, I would fold. However,

If he had been playing loose and aggressive with the habit of bluffing, I would shove allin, as I would think he prolly may have a small PP or just plain crap.

Peace out

I'd probably fold after that flop, but I'd have definitely either smooth called the raise pre-flop or shoved and closed my eyes...depending on the past performance from this particular player. I mean, why put yourself through that? Fer feck sakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
