Program to Randomly Pick Names For Contests

Oct 25, 2009 12:50 pm Report Abuse

I know there are many birds who hold contests for different contests and stuff like that. Usually people will have to do something and the host will pick the winner. While the host can do whatever they want with thier contest it is not always fair because it is easy for them to pick friends.

Well I wrote a program that solves that problem that I use when giving out seats to my Blackhorse Badugi game. Any railbird who wants this program I will gladly give it to them and if they want source code I will provide that too. This is totally free and you can do with it whatever you want. I wrote it in less than an hour so do not expect something real fancy, it works well though and is stable.

If you would like this program please PM asking for either the program itself or the sourcecode.

The pictures below show you the program and how it is used. Thanks for hosting contests and good luck!

WOW, that is so cool,

i ran a contest a while back to give someone a start with $5 on FT and the decision making was so hard to do..

This will be great for other people doing it.

Thank for sharing..

Oh, btw it is written in VB.Net 2008 in case anyone wondered about that. Also for those of you who really do not know me I am a software engineer. I have been a professional programmer since 1995 so do not expect the source code to be junk. It is not really commented but it is very easy to read.

Thanks!

Hey, that's great.

It definitely is hard choosing a contest winner. And this could help when it's down to a handful of good choices.
