DO I PUSH ALL IN???

Jul 2, 2009 10:54 pm Report Abuse

i have a scenario which is similar to one i had on full tilt yesterday, if you could just tell me your input on playing this hand.

Alright I have about 2700 chips in the BB with AJ, blinds are 120/240. UTG +1 raise to 720 and one other caller. Both of there stacks were at a towering 20,000 compared to my puney stack. I thought if i raise all in most likely i would get 2 callers, and AJ vs two all ins is not very much in favor. So I ended up folding. What would you have done?

Id probably do the wrong thing... all depends on situation, close to money, time and blind increases etc. I would take a triple stack over a shortstack, id prob push. But im always hyperagg, which isnt always the best option. I'l be checking out answers as well, maybe some good explanaitions i can use

I wasnt even close to the money, I just didnt want to risk my stack against 2 callers. One of them most likey had 24 of diamonds and would of flopped a flush.

I'd probably fold there and wait for a shot with worse cards against a single opponent. But you were definitely in the range where any two cards are starting to become playable.

i definatly would push

Well, i think fold and try to get it in better..... you are not good there with AJ. at best you have 40%.... if not 25%

idda folded blinds only 240.. or mabey just flat called u still had lotta rounds left...id say probally a good fold...idda had to assume they had a better hand and udda been hopin for a flop to hit u, and if an ace hits u coulda been in trouble

I would go all-in. Full Tilt, rewards those type of plays,
more then pocket pairs. It's really frustrating to me.

I think you did the right thing. I would likely have folded, also (aside from factors relating to the other players--like extremely loose plays. If the other guys had been showing really stupid hands, I'd be shoving my AJ against them all day.) I am, however, generally risk-adverse. And, despite my normal intention to either raise or fold, not naturally hyper-aggressive. (Note that the choice is between raise or fold, not shove or fold.)

Here's the thing: if I'm going to shove, I like to be the one making the move, preferably in position. I will reraise/shove with better hands than AJ even in poor position, but that's because the hands are good enough that I am comfortable with my chances. (If they lose, well, hell, that's gonna happen sometimes. Ommmmmm.) But I prefer being the aggressor if I am going to risk my stack. AJ is a sweeter hand on the button, with no action beforehand. Not so sweet out of position in a contested pot against big stacks who can call my shove without pain.

Good fold, IMO.

fold against two monster stacks you know how ft is about rewarding donks they probably had nothing and would have caught

I would have probably gone all in with that few chips. That's just over 10 big blinds. I want to push with any decent two cards while my stack is big enough that a double up will put me out of that 10X big blind zone.

If you have a tight image those callers aren't going to call you anyway, but I want them to call if it means a triple up for winning the hand.

I never get pocket cards any better than AJ anyway.

whether i have a tight image doesnt matter at that point i dont think, they have pretty big stacks and i think there calling with any 2 face cards

definite fold, AJ is a joke, unless u take into account the point that FTP does award bad play more often than not...

I woulda pushed in as well but as is the case with poker, it's part science and part artform. Sounds like you were at least thinking through the process which is a good thing.

If you push, you know they will call with the big stacks. I think it depends how you feel. It could pay off pretty good.

When I'm short and make the decision to push, the more the merrier as long as it isn't over 2. lol Good luck to you.

Down to almost ten times the big blind, two callers would not have made me happy but I'd push with ace any and hope to hit. You were going to have to do it than or by the time the blinds go back around. I would have pushed.
IvaiLamDimidov Jul 3, 2009 1:37 am
I would certainly push.
edly423 Jul 3, 2009 1:46 am
muck, fold, toss'em, punt...easy fold
scottdogg Jul 3, 2009 1:57 am
just push all in.... your short stacked.... plus.. there is a 70 percent chance you have only ace.. play to win... good luck
geo_leblanc Jul 3, 2009 1:58 am
i think you did the right move as flat call you may have thought about i no 720 chips is alot for your chip count but AJ is a good hand mind you it all depends on how the other 2 where playing going all in pre flop is never a good move as you can only sit and pray you win but sometimes need to do it but by the sounds of it you no the other 2 where insta call so i thin your options in that situation where fold or call either or is a good play if you mised great fold if you hit that sucks if you fold but that is called gambling take your shot when you get the gut felling. and hope it is not just gas lol straight up me i would fold unless i was in agrassive mode as depends on the day but gl to you in the future
