Magus978

Railbird name: Magus978
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Years Playing Poker: 4
Fav hand: A-A, but anything suited will do

#1 Why did you chose your Railbird.com screen name/ what does it mean?
-As a long time video gamer, Magus was my favorite character in the classic SNES role-playing game Chrono Trigger.

#2 How many hours each day/week spent playing poker on? -Usually only spend an hour max a day if I can help it. Tournaments though, that's another story.

#3 How would you define your style of play?
-I would consider myself a relatively tight player. I won't do anything too foolish, yet I won't do anything too obvious either. What I like to do is see how the early hands go and adapt from there.

#4 Poker Achievements?
-A couple of years ago in one of the PokerStars Online Blogger Championships, I eliminated celebrity player Wil Wheaton on my way to finishing in the top 150.

#5 How did you get involved with poker?
-Watched the poker shows on ESPN and decided to do the research and find the best sites to learn and improve my game.

#6 Which pro would you like to face in a HU match and why?
-Phil Hellmuth, because he's my idol and I would consider it an honor to be the victim of one of his meltdowns.

#7 How have you improved your game?
-I actually feel I've lost some skill, but if there was an improvement to my game, it's my ability to analyze the current hand and make the correct play.

#8 Who if any online pro's do you look up too?
-I don't look up to any online pros. When they're online, they're all the same. You can't fear those kinds of players unless you're going to donk off your chips.

#9 What goals do you have as a poker player in the next 6 month's?
-Continue to build my bankroll from nothing and be able to cash out and treat my girlfriend to something really nice.

#10 What would you consider a weakness in your game/ something you need to improve?
-It's not a weakness in my game, but I think my temper is always something I'm looking to improve. I feel my game is as good as it's gonna get. The only thing I'd like to improve is my luck against bad players.

#11 What would you say is the best online or live game you are skilled at?
-The microlimit PL Omaha games.

#12 What are some typical "TELLS" that a online player is bluffing?
-The time they take to bet and the amount they bet. It's harder to tell what an online player has, but if they bet quickly, they are usually hiding something.

#13 How has Railbirds.com helped your game play?
-It's given me a chance to play against players who are definitely better than me, and it's given me a chance to really take my game to the next level. I'm not at my best yet as I've just returned to the game, but I'll get there, and when I do, the Railbirds better watch out.

#14 What poker books have you read, and have they helped your game?
-Play Poker Like the Pros (Hellmuth), and it has, but I haven't played in awhile so it might take some time for me to get back to my best.
