Temporarily of course......

Ok.....So,I am one of those fools, addicted to the SIMS games. I have a Sony Vaio gaming pc, that I bought specifically for my SIMS games, about 4 yrs ago. My graphics card went kaput, stopping me from playing my games. If I tried to play, my pc would crash.

I put off replacing it as long as possible, but it got to the point that I couldn't have both FTP & PS open at the same time, or my PC would should down, as it couldn't keep up w/ the graphics. So......I finally went to Best Buy to buy a new one.

  • Cost of a new graphics card on sale $ 139.99.
  • Salesman talked us into updating our power supply, as it was 400 watts and needed to be 450 watts for new graphics card..... cost $72.99.
  • He also talked us into adding 1GB of RAM at a cost of $52.99.
  • The new SIMS3 game cost $44.99.
  • We also needed a new cooling fan, but Best Buy didn't have the right size. We subsequently went to Radio Shack and 2 mom & pop type establishments, before we found the right size. We brought it home , only to see that the connections wer not correct. Argh.

So, after all was said and done, we spent $369.17.

We took the hardware home, thinking we could install it ourself......but we got a little confused. We are NOT pc oriented people.....so, we took athe hardware back to Best Buy and asked them to install it. Another bill of $106.48.

We had a wait of about an hour and a half for them to install the new hardware, so we went to the bar....blew about $35 (Which is a relatively small bar tab for us!) waiting to pick up PC.

So,now we are up to $510.65.

We still don't have a cooling fan, but I installed my SIMS3 game anyways and left the tower "open"......to help keep it cool......there was NO WAY i was not playing this game tonight! We can't pick up the correct size fan til' Monday.....

But! even though I am too old to be playing barbies on the computer (at the age of 34) being able to finally play my SIMS game again..... let alone the NEW one.......IS PRICELESS!

(Though now I think I own the most expensive video game ever, lol!)

So, yeah.......gotta get my $510.65 worth out of this game. Gonna be playing it like mad. Prolly won't be playing much poker, except for my games.....for a couple of weeks.

I have been in withdrawl!

I needed to make the upgrades anyways. The new SIMS game just motivated me to do it.
