Sep 08 Summary

  • Oct. 1st, 2008 at 12:08 PM
Another crappy month in terms of my play. I just can seem to consolidate and build on wins. I had some great sessions and big hands but managed to destroy the bankroll by the end of the month meaning im a donk.
I think that I am just impatient and want action and overvalue my cards or undervalue the strength of my opponents - something I need to fix immediately so I stop spewing money. I need to become hard to kill and protect what I have won when im up, and tighten up and not think "oh stuff it" and lose the rest when im down. I think im just playing too loose, with the hands that I play. I think that if I raised PF you better respect this, which doesnt happen by the 3 callers and I usually lose a big hand.
As usual the bots were going nuts which drives me insane so I gotta stop trying to play them unless im holding AA or KK. At times there were 3 bots on a 6 max table.... rrrrr. UB still continues to do nothing about it.
Most of the month consisted of cash tables as the tourneys take forever to fill (as ranted about before). I played a few SnG's with some success.
So month #2 has passed and im not broke, only gained a small amount, still on the ropes fighting. Time to move on and play some better poker.
My "leg" at FTP is broke now as I only have ~$2.50 there after losing $3 at a cash table, not enough to risk on anything than the smallest tournaments now...... the 0.00 + 0.10 (50c rebuy/addon). Perhaps if im feeling game I may try a $1.00 + 0.25 SnG or a $1 Ferguson - cause if I lose that then im really crippled there. I have been playing the $100 freerolls at FTP and the last few nights I have placed outside the money with 60th and 45th finishes out of about 1300 runners. Once I can win a few more freeroll $ I can start the buildup at FTP again. Patience young skywalker.

I have retained my PLAYER status until Oct 31 at UB. I also see that I am unable to use my Ultimate points on 9 man SnG's (doesnt UB just get better and better?), I can only use them on the scheduled tourneys, so its probably a good to use them up on the $5K guarenteed. (I have enough for the buy in and a total of 3 rebuys/add on = 410 points - personally I want to go nuts with this one one day so lets wait until I have a few more points)
So the results for the month are in:
Ultimate Bet
High water mark: $34.00 (again :-)
Low water mark: $ 6.00 (eeek)
Cash: $14.28 (+$0.68)
Ultimate Points: 452 Points
Full Tilt br /> Well lets not talk about that!

Biggest hand ever!

  • Sep. 19th, 2008 at 9:27 AM
In my new goal of going for broke at UB, I nearly did just that having my "back to the wall" with a tiny BR at a stake I should not have been playing. But as per a previous post I dont really care if I do go busto and I am happy to say that I have lasted 3 sessions at the 0.05/0.10 stakes.

So to the main point of this post, I played and won the biggest hand of my online poker experience to date, it was not because of a good read, a suckout from a 2 outer or anything like that. The way that I see it, it was a total gift! Yoink, ill take it! The dude donated his entire stack to me.

Here is the hand as it happened. He min to 0.20 raised PF, so it was an instant call for me with Jacks with position on him. This also managed to isolate the table to HU in the process.

The flop J 3 5 gave me top set, 5rick1 bet 0.40 to which I called thinking I could get more value out of this.

The turn filled me up hitting another 3, to which 5rick1 bet 1.20. Here I decided to min raise him to 2.40 too see if I could get him to give me more, to which he responded with an all in for 10.34 more! Now the only hand that has me beat was pocket 3's for quads, but I could not put him on this hand at all given the sizes of the bets he was making. And I figured if he had quads then so be it - I have done what I wanted and gone broke at UB, its not like there were three 3's on the table (I may have folded if that was the case). For me this was a call.

To my shock when we flipped cards he showed KK for 2 pair. LoL I just took the biggest hand for me ever!

YAY ME!

I played on for another 1.5 hrs after this win and to my surprise I managed to cash out $25 from the table, I would usually lose about half cause im a donk. I was in a good mood and and decided to gamble (read: spew) with 75o to a guy who only had $1 left. Like I said I was in a good mood and I felt sorry for him having taken many $ from him. I lost that hand, but did not care. I should have looked for a spot to keep taking money from him. I need to be schooled!

Weird session - I HATE YOU UB

  • Sep. 17th, 2008 at 9:56 AM
Something really weird happened last night and I cant rule it out as something really dodgy. I opened up 3 tables at UB and dropped $1 on each as I usually do. I was up about 4 buy ins at the high water mark but by the end of the night I was down 2 buy ins. I have been looking back at my HH and discovered the following:

In the 510 hands that I was dealt
AA x 2 (0.39%)
KK x 8 (1.56%)
QQ x 3 (0.58%)
AK x 10 (1.96%)
AQ x 6 (1.17%)

This represents 5.66% of all hands were were in the AQ+, QQ+ range. Now I would not normally complain here being dealt all these monsters but that seems unusually high. Of these times KK was busted half the time, QQ was busted once and uncontested twice, AK won 8 of 10 times, AQ was uncontested every time and my Aces won 50% of the time.

My problem here is when these monsters were cracked they were cracked hard. ie: I lost about 2 buy ins when my KK was beaten by QQ (yep the 2 outer hit), this would partly explain why I was down 2 buy ins by the end of the night. I was getting my money in with the best of it on most occasions but still ended up losing for the night. Come on, what the hell UB.

Now more than ever I want to dump UB, so scrap the existing plan, heres the new plan. My BR at UB was derived from freeroll winnings and since I have also made a BR from zero at FTP I dont care as much if I go busto at UB - I stand to lose nothing. I only did this so I could play up a few levels and learn how to play better.

So its time to go for broke at UB and hopefully hit the min cash out mark. FTP cash tables start at 0.05/0.10 so I will play at these stakes at UB to get the practice in at this level. I will even play SnG's at higher levels than I should and attempt to use up all my Ultimate Points. If/When I go busto/cash out I will close my account then send an abusive email to the useless support team while I am at it.

Wish me luck! It may only last 1 session!

UB out, FTP in

  • Sep. 15th, 2008 at 12:40 PM
Its been a while since I have posted, so heres an update.

I have been hitting the freerolls hard and have managed 3 cashes at FTP which is where I think I will be playing from now on.

I am kind of getting over UB and the micro bots which always manage to suckout on you (UB are aware of this and seem to be doing nothing to combat it). Given the cheating scandals that have happened at UB/AP in the past I might give them a break for a while or even just try my luck on some larger MTTs chewing out the rest of the BR there for experience.

I guess the nail in the coffin is that their SnG's just suck real hard, they are really slow to fill - if at all. I dont think I have seen a 100 player $1.10 SnG fill or an 18 player fill for that matter.

One tournament I think I will be entering at UB is the $1.10 rebuy for a $5K prize pool. These are daily at 11am so I might try my luck on Saturdays on this one. There are usually about 800+ runners in it and the only time I played it I managed a top 300 spot, way out of the cash but not too bad for a first try.

So back to FTP. Last night I managed an 8th place for $3 but I was really disapointed with it as I felt I should have gotten a 2nd or 3rd place at least. I was 2nd in chips on the final table with about 500K and the chip leader was on my direct left with about 700K in chips, I was at least 200K ahead of everyone else when I stupidly played an A4 against the chip leader on a A66 board. I got it all in on the flop (why oh why did I do that it was 11pm and I was getting tired?!?) and was called by AQ. Goodnight, even if the board paired I was still drawing real thin with my opponents Q kicker, So I just donated my stack to the chip leader who now had 1.2M about 1M clear of anyone else. I should have just hit the "sit out" button and gone to bed. Im sure that I would have come at least 4th.

Anyway some more news at FTP. They had their 1 on 1 with Antionus 3 stage freeroll series. In one of these total donkfests I made it thru to rd2 and then managed a 295th place in the round 2 event out of 1500 runners. Not enough to sat thru to rd3 but it was a good experience. I found that people were playing and raising with any two cards which really made me concentrate and play a different game. Eventually I did something that you should not do and that was to go broke with a pair. Damm AK (which was TPTK at the time) was busted by trip 8's. I need to think a little more about that one.

Finally before I wrap up, I played in the 3 stage Poker After Dark freeroll. I managed to kill that one, but when I saw what time they were playing the rd2, I unregistered from it taking my 100FTP. Now I have 300+ FTP's which I may use on other points freerolls.

So thats the update for the moment. My BR from zero has grown a second leg at FTP now
