Call me crazy, but I'm not even calling preflop there with my KTo with 3 people to act behind me and certainly not calling post flop risking my tournament life on a missed flop even if I caught you bluffing. There's just no need for the risk there IMO.

With that flop he was going to need a runner runner to beat anything that he should have suspected you of having.

Knowing you like most of us here, who knows why they didn't fold unless they were just wanting out of the tournament.

He knocked me out of the tournament. he raised with AK I called with AQ. The flop was AQK all diamonds. I was playing tight most of the game, so when he bet I raised all in and he called. Maybe he just likes taking risks.

I know what your talking about manny I have tried to bring more bluffs or positional raises into my game sometimes it works sometimes it does'nt especially at the lower levels i have to keep reminding myself what level i'm playing at and u know man $1 or less the play is very redonkulous

sometimes i think that when these guys get the new updates they dont get a fold button lol

keep up the good play manny and try your skills at a higher level someone might appreciate your play there

Manny, I'm trying to figure out what your betting pattern was representing. You bet 1/3 of your stack pre-flop which essentially is committing you to your hand since your M < 5. From his point of view what hand would you have that wouldn't commit pre-flop ? OK .. of the hands that are in this range, which hands would push in on that flop ? My answer is I don't know to both questions, it doesn't seem to be a betting pattern that makes sense to me ... maybe he couldn't make sense of it either and put you on any 2 cards ???? Just trying to point out that your betting pattern is telling a story that doesn't make sense to me.
edly423 Nov 20, 2008 1:21 pm
Well, now I always thought the term "Donkey" was coined because a Donkey is an animal who cannot be pushed....
PookieGirl2 Nov 20, 2008 1:36 pm
Just trying to think it through .... your not playing suited connectors or small pairs for a raise. So I'm putting your hand range to open raise would be AA-88 and AK-AT. With AA-JJ you probably push pre-flop, maybe also with AK. That leaves TT,99,88, AQ, AJ, AT. His equity is about 36% (to your 63%) so the pre-flop call that commits him to the pot IS BAD. However, post flop looking agin at your range .. TT isn't likely because villain has a T, maybe 99 but not 88 as it doesn't push all in on that flop. AJ maybe needs to push to protect against the re-draw. AQ maybe pushes. AT not as likely given villain has a T. So likely hand is 99, AQ or AJ. Against this range villain would probably be a 4:1 dog ... pot odds 3:1 .... I've been working on this for 20 minutes and still can't decide ... guess he insta-called huh.

I'm agreeing with pookiegirl on this one...I'm thinking, thinking here...

If I am calling the bet pre-flop that is 1/3 of your stack (my hand is of no consequence in this thought process), then I know you only have one move post flop, and no matter the flop...That would be an all-in push, which is the rest of my chips...That being the case, a call here requires a solid calling hand (AA-TT, AK) IMO...

If you are raising loose, I may make that call, but if you have a tight table image, I'm folding the KTo pre-flop and let you take what's in the pot, cause I'm already a dog assuming you are a pair, or minimally A high raising...

If I am villain, the fold pre-flop does way less damage to my stack than if I also commit myself with such a mediocre hand. If I for some reason, make that pre-flop call, then I definitely fold on that push and wait for the next hand to be dealt...
