6-handed vs 9 or 10 - handed

Is there a difference in playing 6 handed? Do you play a wider range of cards or do you just play the same way as a larger table?

have to play more hands at a 6 man table, blinds come around faster....but at 6 handed table you play more hands per hour than at 9/10 handed table

Yes, there is bigger difference for sure. Just as 'rubslotionskin' mentioned you need to open up the range of hands you play. Certain hands like A J, K Q, etc., which aren't real big hands in 9 handed table now become big hands at 6 person table. I prefer playing full 9 person table when playing live poker, but when I'm playing in a cash game online(especially omaha), I always play and prefer 6 handed tables. You will notice a lot of the bigger online pros always play 6 handed as well for various reasons. As always GL at the tables...Mikey

You have a slightly larger range in 6 handed. The middle position is eliminated from 6 handed poker. The cards played from Middle position in 9 handed can be added to late position play in 6 handed.

Thats my opinion anyway.

I think in general u have to open up your range because obviously theres an increased chance that ur hand is best with 3 less players. I still play somewhat of a tight game the first couple levels because i think my 3 handed game is strong and being that only 2 pay, its a pretty easy walk into the money, but that depends on ur short handed game obv
