Post Main Event delay

Nov 19, 2008 4:56 pm Report Abuse

so, what do you guys think about the november 9, do you feel it was worth the build up to the main event

how do you think it would be to have been paid out 900k and not knowing if your going to make nothing on the day, or 10x that amount lol

anyone else have comments on the delay of it?

All the statistics and ratings of the event say it did exactly what they wanted. So I think overall for the sake of poker it was a great move!

i think it was good more exciting and the nervous energy the players had just waiting for the final table to happen not knowing what they were going.

to win

I can see the benefits to the players involved. Mainly because it gives them almost 4 months to make endorsement money without winning anything. As far as the ratings to the network is concerned, I guess, we will have to wait and see if it made any difference. However, I am not a fan of waiting 4 months to complete a tournament. I would change my mind if espn decides to devote one channel to broadcasting the entire final table live. This would be the only way for me to appreciate waiting 4 months to see the final table.

I remember a couple years ago me and some friends saw the final table live. It was on Pay Per View and it was pretty good. The only thing is you can't see their cards live, for obvious reasons. It takes forever, and there is a lot of folds so you dont really get to see the cards at the end either which makes it frustrating. But either way it was cool. I would like to see something like this incorporated with the 4 month delay.

A live broadcast of the final table will not happen anytime soon on commercial televison because of the need to guarantee the integrity of the game. The best we could hope for would be a five minute or ten minute delay like they use with the Bicycle Club's webcast.

The fact that they did do a preliminary payout of almost 1 mil per player made the four month wait a little easier to endure I suppose.

The delay did what it was suppose to do I guess. I didn't get into televised poker until WSOP 2007 so I don't really have a comparison. But I think it certainly increased internet traffic to poker related sites for up to the minute info.

so.......next year be good idea to do same idea? maybe shorter time before perhaps 2 months?
