Well I'll tell you why!!!

Well, as I was saying.... I'm playing in a $1000 tourny with blinds at 10/20, about 43 table playing. The site (ClubWPT) has a window that updates the standings. It shows that the player with the most chips has over 4500. That only sounds wrong when you understand that we are only 3 min into the game and we start with only 1000 chips. That is why some people go all in every hand at the begainning of the game, it gives them that edge. I was still at my 1000 chip starting point because the cards at my table have only been delt twice. I don't use the term "donk", but it does make you think. What do you think?

Of course. But it can't be the first time you've ever seen that happen... 4 way pot.

I've seen it go up as high as about 7,500 first hand. Yes, it's why they do it. Can't get there any other way, as it sure isn't by playing 'poker'.

play chip tourny?? that would be the only explanation.

It's early in the tournament. I don't worry about the chip leaders at that point or any other point really.

I have seen the short stack with less than 450 chips left and just 18 players remaining in a 90seater come back and win the tournament. The person they beat heads up was the short stack when the final table was reached.

The big stacks at the end of the tournament get their big stacks after the antes are started. You can often double up at that point in one hand without risking every thing.

Tournament play is a marathon, not a sprint.

actually i disagree, you can get there by playing "poker" , here is my question. are you willing to have your tournament life ended with a preflop all in with any two cards? If so then its for you , but that to me is playing bingo not poker.

i guess people are just willing to lose that much money just to try and make it later on.

well I hope you do good Is that one of them pay by the month sights? If so is it worth the fees?

I've done something similiar the first hand before just by playing poker.

Had AA in the cut off, UTG raised 3.5x BB 2 others called and I just smooth called.

Flop was A 9 3 rainbow

UTG bet others called as did I

Turn was 7 UTG pushed other two called as did I

UTG had 99, one guy had A9 and the other 33 the rest didn't matter.

It is a membership site, and when I first signed up I won a lot.

You are in it for the long haul. I would not be looking at chip leaders, but wait to be on their table, with a good hand, and then let them gamble. I was in a torny, yesterday, where the first 11 hands went to All-in......I sat back and still lost!
