Are there any good poker movies out there, besides Rounders?

Nov 18, 2008 10:56 pm Report Abuse

I recently watched Deal and the god awful Lucky You (I want that hour and a half of my life back!) Is there anything out there that is actually good besides *****?

I saw a movie on HBO called "The Grand." It was probably the worst poker movie I've ever seen in my life.

Oh right... forgot about The Grand. I thought that would be funny... but it really wasn't... R-O-U-N-D-E-R-S It's not a dirty word or anything!

Go rent the Stu Ungar story, then see how much you idolize "professional" poker players. The movie is good, the story is good, not all this bs hollywood edited crap.

i have watched them, they are all pretty much crap

"Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels", and "The Cincinati Kid" are my two personal favorites. "High Roller: The Stu Ungar story" is pretty good. Round-ers is alright

Ah, forgot about Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels! Yes, that was a good movie! Haven't seen the other two, but I'll put them on my netflix list. Thanks!

Lock Stock isn't really a poker movie, just a series of events that starts with a poker game. The Grand sucked, I don't even want to see Lucky You. The Stu Ungar story is OK but depressing as all hell. So to answer your question: no, there are no really good poker movies. And on the same note, I thought 21 was pretty lame too.
