back to play and a ?

Nov 18, 2008 4:48 pm Report Abuse

Well after a month of not posting a Bank Roll I am putting fundsin my Bank roll on Tilt .....
So the Donkey is back and ready to play in SOME private tournies ..
I am going to play in only select tournies cause last time I entered way too many and got burnt out and my all ready poor play had become even poorer..
I am going to try to play closer to my live play since I am doing quite well at the Casino sooooooo I hope I can play a tighter type game on line and not get board and play loose (which normally happens on line)

SO here my question HOW DO YOU FIGHT BOARDOM WHEN YOU PLAY ON LINE
this is my biggest problem playing on line i can fold tons of hands live and not get distracted or board but on line i can not i get an urge to play every hand anyone else have this problem???

see u on the felts and
HEEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
palrs

...this is a question that many consider. When playing an RB freeroll, I am usually chatting with a distant family member, or some other RB's. I know that for myself, the time can absolutely fly if I am chatting. I don't tend to get stuck calling very marginal cards in marginal positions. However, some people play multi-tables...no time for boredom there...

Let us know when you find a method that works for you...perhaps others could use it too.

I keep myself occupied by tracking the PIF stuff, and scheming up other activities. I also keep the television on a show that interests me. Both things can, and have, actually hurt me on the tables once it's deep---because I miss out on the "table image" of my opponents. I miss the fact that "so-and-so" won't bet unless he's on top pair, etc; and that the LAG guy has no problem pushing with 7/2o if he doesn't think anyone hit the flop.

The main thing is to maintain a slight distraction.

I too believe that you have to find your own balance as to how much other "stuff" you can do while playing. I have been distracted by outside influences and have ending up playing very poorly. Be careful and find your own balance.

Glad to see you back, palrs!

While others would disagree with not focusing on the game and the other player action, I have to do something else when I play or I do just what you said, I get bored and begin playing more hands which IMO does more harm than good.

Normally when I'm in a tournament or even a ring game, I'm on Railbirds browsing around answering blogs, I could be working on Lizzard stuff, I'm chatting with friends, and sometimes I'm even doing laundry, etc. Yes, I'm a big multi-tasker.

Even with "doing alot" at one time I am more focused on my game then I would be if it was the only thing I'm playing because I'm watching my hands more careful, being selective, picking my spots, etc.

Play more than one game at a time. This can be destracting and cause mistakes.

yay, palrs...it was nice to see your message!

Lesse, when I'm folding like crazy... I look up player stats, watch other tables and how they are playing, watch t.v. at the same time, blog here or play myspace apps.....

But for the most part, I am watching and "reading" the players at my table, and once I nail them down to what they play .. I engage.

I played several freerolls for a stint, and endurance is a must when you're up against 12000, or 4500....practice stamina. Don't focus on the win, but focus on the entrants (dropping off). Just for your own esteem, ranking higher improves your self image and the opinion of your own play.

First of all, I'm Glad to have you back! and hope we meet on the felt sooner than later...

If I get involved in too many things, I lose the balance of paying attention to the game and miss important information about players that I can use later on. One thing that has helped me focus on my game, yet keep me from getting bored is to make notes on the other players. Come up with a color coded system and make short but accurate notes about all the players at your table.

It seems useless at first, but after a while, you start to see these same players in your games and can use that information, as well as being able to use that information later in the game if it's an MTT.

GL on and off the felt...
