What happened?

You sit down at the 1st table of a NLHE Railbird's Freeroll and watching the play of one of the people there winning several hands and everytime at showdown this person is packing a monster. Time and time again, you watch as one person after the other take the chip leader on only to get sent to the rail. You know all to well you better have a big hand, and pray it holds up, because this chip leader is on a RUSH only dreams are made of. One after another someone moves to the table with an average stack and tries to double up against the Big Stack only to be sent to the Rail. Each time the Big Stack seems unconquerable as one after another every player hits the rail who push against the chip leader. No one who has been there and have watched the Big stack even want to play in a hand and hope they get moved and soon. They often in chat ask the dealer if they could move including yourself. The Big Stack is a huge chip leader and it hasn't hit the 4th level yet. The chip leader has 10x the chips than the one in 2nd place.

Here it comes an average stack comes to the table and is on the button. The BS is UTG and raises 4x and a standard raise from the BS and everyone folds quickly. The new guy decides he's going to push allin with 52o to steal his raise and the blinds. He figures he's just a lucky donk who has been pushing everyone around with his stack. He gets called by the BS who shows AA. Everyone at the table laughs until the flop comes 552 and he gets lucky and wins. All of a sudden that average stack has an above average stack but not even close to the BS. He's really feeling lucky like he can hit anything and everything and laughing about it.

2 hands later he gets a J7o in mid position and limps, the BS is in SB and raises 4x again. The noob to the table feels lucky again and pushes allin thinking he's gonna steal his raise since he has position on him. He gets quick called and the BS has AA again. You smile big and then the flop comes T98 and the guy wins again and is now the chip leader. You begin to see that the ex-chip leader is not invulnerable but has had big hands beat twice now.

The new chip leader is feeling great on 2 very silly plays and starts running his mouth. 2 hands later the ex- chip leader is in mid position and raises 4x again. The new chip leader is in BB and pushes allin again with 9c3c only to get called again by the ex-chip leader and he shows AA again. The third time in 5 hands he has had AA. Of course it happens again the new chip leader flops a flush and the once dominating chip leader is sitting on the rail after 3 monster AA hands getting cracked by 3 silly plays by the same person.

What happened?

I shut off Full Tilt, closed Railbirds, and didn't play poker for 6 months. I could not believe what had just happened to me. 3 AA in five hands had just been cracked by the same person playing silly bingo poker. This was just to let everyone know why I left for so long until I returned back in May. For your information, YES, this is a TRUE story.

GL on the felt all, and to tell the you TRUTH I'm still gun-shy of AA when calling an allin preflop. You better lookout though because I will, *GRINS* and I may be packing that AA.

Yikes, holy smokes, what a story JK. And after the run I've been having, well what can I say, I needed to hear this one.

Doyle Brunson say's that winning hands will come in streaks and after winning a hand he will play the next hand regardless of his cards.

Last night I entered one of those satellites to a big tournament. It cost $.50 +$.10 with rebuys through the first 6 levels and an add on then. I bought a rebuy at the beginning. I went through the first 55 minutes with junk cards, not getting an opportunity to win chips during the rebuy period. Then presto, at the 55 minute mark I hit cards and won the last four hands of the first hour and the first hand of the second hour. I was all of a sudden in first place and went to playing just the top five hand. I stayed in the top 7 for the rest of the tournament, risking all but 1500 of my chips just once when I made a correct read on an opponents bluff.

I'm gun shy about those preflop all ins regardless of what my cards are to. Those river card killers come in bunches. In September I lost 21 pots while holding Full Houses. If there is a possibility of being beaten during those streaks that possibility will happen.

I was on one of those DREAM rolls. I won 6 of the first 9 hands taking out 3 people when they pushed me on river when I had ultimate nuts. I was sitting with 10k after 1st round and got excessivley better and the hands didn't stop. I never once pushed allin only called them and nearly every time I had the ultimate nuts when it happened. Starting level 4 I had nearly 40k which was unbelievable to me. I did not bluff once and didn't need to. I did not play big stack becasue I didn't need to. I had the hands.

Then came the 1st AA crack. no biggie there although that 552 flop sickened me. I did not go on tilt at all after that which would be understandable especially with a big stack like that. I get the 2nd AA that quick and the pulse quickened and when he pushed me again I just grinned big when I saw his cards only to see the flop str8. I almost puked at that moment. Sat back in my chair and said what a lucky F*****R. 2 hands later I got the 3rd one but he had a few more chips than I did then and knew I could be on the rail, thought real hard about it and then called. "He couldn't be that lucky 3 times in a row!" Well, he was. The people at the table were already giving him grief over the 1st 2 calling him all manner of names. I didn't even respond at all after this one and just closed the window and FT along with my Browser. I was in total shock.

I thought it all over in my head over the next few months and couldn't see where I made a mistake other than maybe betting even bigger preflop. I followed my strategy to the letter. I would only raise with big hands and with 4x only. I hate going allin until some cards are on the board and most of the time when I know I am way ahead.

It was one helluva roller coaster ride that is for sure. Instead it was more like being shot into space and multiple explosions blew me out of the air. It took me 6 months to get over it, truly, and came back with a better even more focused attitude. In the 6 months that I have been back I am now nearing the top 100 in both the FR and RM rankings and I am pretty proud of that.

GL all I hoped sharing this not only would explain my absence for so long at the beginning of the year.
