This is my tribute to a great Membership Goup. My little walk back down nostalgia lane. Please indulge me and read. Even though I am leaving this Group, I am still Aussie to the bone.
History and background of The POKEROOS
PookieGirl2 wrote a blog calling for Aussie people to form a membership group on RB and after an amazing call out, the POKEROOS were formed. The reason for this Membership Group is that we had a “louder voice” in a site of 30,000 members mostly made up of USA members. Legos designed the Official POKEROO logo which is still in use.

New members as of 20 November, 2007:
Swanny was the Leader and AceKicker and Snowblind were CoLeaders, with eventually Swanny and AceKicker being Leader and CoLeader. AceKicker made all the name tags for our Members and was a great co-worker to have on board. These name tags are still in use today.
From the day he took over as Leader, POKEROOS has grown from strength to strength. He chose a good team of CoLeaders and Jonty improved the POKEROOS profile page into something I consider still to be one of the best Clans/Families/Membership Groups on RailBirds.
I offered to keep setting up the fortnightly POKEROO OPEN tournaments for Jonty and he agreed. I then asked did he think we were ready to run a POKEROO game every Monday night and I recall him saying “Are we what??? Yesssssssss” so we set up a RAZZ and a HORSE game for every alternate Monday night.

So POKEROOS has gone from strength to strength. We had a Leadership change and new injection of energy. Jonty ran a competition for Trophies for the new Razz and Horse games and also made a second place trophy for the POKEROO OPEN.
I have now stepped out of Membership with this great group and I wish them every continued success. When you read some of these blogs you will see names we no longer see around the site. You will see cheers and tears and hopefully you will see the hard work put in by Leaders and CoLeaders.
When Jonty said to “remove my name from your list” he didn’t mean for you to remove me from your Friends List, but just if you had the list of members on your profile page, remove my name. I hope you all remember I am an Aussie first and foremost.

OMG Swanny this has bought back some fond memories of our beloved Pokeroos and the wonderful times we shared. I didn't even remember I took 3rd in our 1st freeroll

I still remember that fate filled night in the aussie freeroll, where the chat at the tables was a flood with idea of a all aussie clan here at the nest.

I remember Jetball13 telling me about an Aussie clan on here and i just knew i had to be apart of it.
Swanny you did a great job as our leader in the early days and i know the Pokroos meant and still do mean alot to you. If it wasn't for you and others us aussie railbirds would be scattered across different clans (more so) and wouldn't have a special clan to call our own.
Jontyroads (not to be confused with the cricketer
) was a great replacement for swanny. Respect to you mate and everything you did for the Pokeroos. You saved the group from going under and made it strong again.
I will remain a Pokeroo until i'm kicked out or worst or offered better
which ever comes first. I hope those who have left the group find their way back one day and if not good luck.

Some of this history i knew & some i didnt.
As for the pokeroos song i have it on my page.
It is a sad day having to take you of the list & changing jonty from leader.
At least we will still see you around here, so we won't miss you altogether.

I was permitted to be in AceCartel and a member of POKEROOS. And then we merged with KingCartel and became THE CARTEL. We aren't a clan. We are family (hmmmm sounds like a song coming on here lol)
Swanny is the mose dedicated Aussie /pokeroo suporter I know. Even though you are now Cartel family, that will never take from the love you have for the pokeroo's. I am a Cartel member and support my Aussie friends 100%! Awesome blog Swanny, you are a wonderful person and I am sure your pokeroo's will stand by you as you have all along.

You can be an active member and rise in the ranks of The Cartel and still be a Pokeroo.
I am sure anyone who has been a RB for any length of time will always consider you THE Pokeroo anyway.
