How to double my Bank Roll

Nov 17, 2008 10:49 pm Report Abuse

I have been playing for a long time and usually stay around even. The only way I really make money is if I hit big in a tournament, but at the same time I am scared to by into a big tourney. My bank roll is at $170 right now. What are some strategies that people use to make substantial gains. Any advice would help. Also I love all games not just Hold'em.

Bankroll management!.

I'd suggest keep grinding. I'd say playing in $5 sng's and MTTs (about 3% of your roll).

but the quickest way would be to take the $170 and head to the nearest roullette wheel..Red or Black?

big risk = big reward, bigger risk = bigger reward.

There is no easy way to double up besides putting your chips in the middle of the table. At some point, you are going to have to take a chance, and hopefully cash in on it. Of course, like the last comment said, have to use bankroll management. I typically don't like to play with more than 10% of my money at one time... definitely not over that. Even that is a lot to some people.

$170 is workable, maybe try playing a 10-15 sng? or tourny if you like those better.. good luck to you.

Bankroll management is good. You just need to be careful what you play. I would avoid cash games for now until your bankroll was bigger. I would play sngs and low dollar tournaments while practicing good bankroll management and not putting too much of your bankroll on the line.

I followed Chris Ferguson s bankroll management to the T... started with $100 playing micro moving up and moving down when I had to (which does bite LOL) anyways built up a large enough bankroll that I was playing 1/2 and doing quite well... I withdrew went on a trip on a plasma television now I'm back down .10/.25 ready to do it all over again

On Stars the $2 180 man SnGs pay well and are not too hard to cash in. Also the $$ added $0.10 and $0.25 tourneys are good overlay tournies.

I am in the same situation with a bankroll of 140$. I am playing 18 man 3.40$ buy in turbos but I am going to soon start playing 5.50 18 man tables...Tourneys are not my greatest strength, i only have reached 2 final tables so my chances of cashing big in a tourney is not too great.
Pokahhh Nov 17, 2008 11:20 pm
play $5 18 man sngs... I prefer non turbos myself.. Once you hit $225 move upto the $10...

This will give you 25 Buy Ins at each level.. IF you have to, move down collect your losses then move up..

Well to tell you the truth, This what I would do with $170.

1) play some $10+ single table sit n gos to get a feel for bigger buy ins. I have done this with great results.

2) Sattillite into some bigger tourneys, Great EV if you get your seat. Look at fossile man, won a wsop on $26

3) Continue grinding it out on $2/$4 180 man sit-n-gos

Either way, you stand to gain valuable experience for the day you find your grove and confidence not to ask this question again.

But yes, Bankroll management is the most valuable thing you can do now...

I'm definately a fan of the grind-away bankroll management plan.

I've taken $5 I won in an APPT qualifier at Pokerstars up to $63 now simply by sticking to 10 cent SnG's and 10, 25 and 50 cent tourneys (and a once in a blue moon $1 tourney) and the odd hit and run on 1/2 cent ring games (where I only put $1 up because that's not a lot to lose).

Sure, you hit donkeys by the handful but I play tight aggressive and I'm finding I regularly cash. Some days are better than others but I haven't had a month (4 since I began) where my bankroll has gone down.

My "plan" is to get to $100 and move to $1 SnG and tourneys, but with an immediate move back to the 10 centers if I drop back to $80. I'm very careful to be patient overall and not get to thinking that it could translate immediately to higher stakes, because I think that's where people make their biggest mistake.

I found it impossible to do at full tilt simply because they only have one 10 cent tourney per day.

play reckless untill you get down to just about a buck then enter a double or nothing tourney

Small stakes ring games can be profitable when approached right ! There is a lot to consider, but they are the easiest place to consistantly make money online, in my opinion. The Poker Stars double of nothing games can build you a nice bank, if you play that site.

....Tc....

well do you want to have to reload or no, you can grind it out just like kinish or you can go big and get in debt with the mafia, a guy named KGB, Just watch *****....
thinlizard Nov 18, 2008 1:24 am
cashout all your winnings, then deposit on a new site that offers a 100% deposit bonus, then clear that by playing some small limits, then you have probably more than double.
