If you're postflop play in NL tournaments consists of betting when you hit and checking when you miss then you're missing out on winning pots.
There are literally hundreds of places you can learn about postflop play; from books to blogs to articles on various forums. But learning isn't enough, trying isn't enough. As Yoda would say, "Don't try! Do!."
But implementing postflop strategies can be a bear. It's hard to bet when you've missed, hard to toss out chips when you've hit a set but there's three to a flush out there. And saying "just do it" sounds good but seldom works.
I have no secret strategies to offer, no silver bullets you can use to instantly change your game. But I do have a recommendation: Play the PokerStars 10-cent 360-runner turbos. People are actually trying to win these and they're great for experimenting. It's a DIME, folks! Position play, c-betting, semi-bluffing, and pure bluffs are all strategies you can use here at minimal cost.
You'll learn quickly how people react to certain things and how certain player types almost always react exactly the same. It'll go a long way towards helping you establish certain "truisms" for certain groups of players and how you should play them.
Another nice thing about these is there's no rake, so whatever you've won in freerolls (or have left in the wreckage of your bankroll) is all part of the prize pool.
