Is this cheating? (off topic)

Nov 17, 2008 3:06 am Report Abuse

A friend asked me the other day if he could ask a question to get my opinion on his personal life. He goes on to explain that he is sleeping with a married woman, he is single but she is not and wanted to know if that was wrong.

I told him, not really for his part ... he is single, she on other hand is in the wrong. I added that this could lead to a pile of trouble but technically he isn't doing really wrong.

I posed the question to a female friend of mine who went off on me something fierce ...

So, I thought I'd ask your opinion

myfun56 Nov 17, 2008 3:18 am
could say he is cheating the husband out of what is his, or stealing his wife.
ksuhart Nov 17, 2008 3:19 am

Takes two to cheat....

He knows that she is married, therefore, he's hardly innocent...

Deucejr22 Nov 17, 2008 3:20 am
if he knows she is married.... why would he want to waste his time with someone who wont fully be with him, unless the only reason is sleeping around... which then, yes it is wrong. If she wants to be with him, she would need to prove it and leave her husband or else it sjust scandlish and yes...wrong.

Cheating is what it is many familes have gotten broken up by cheaters its not only wrong but many people get hurt from actions like that ....
SawBoy Nov 17, 2008 3:22 am
tough one...simple answer...he is not cheating...he's single trying to snap his bean...she is the one in a committed relationship, not him...what next???
Sandman-Michael Nov 17, 2008 3:24 am
I told him that no good will come of it ... and that in the end it will go no where
geowind Nov 17, 2008 3:25 am

iHATEftp Nov 17, 2008 3:25 am

"Technically", he's not cheating but what he is doing is wrong; If he knows she is married and still smashin, then off with his head

Adultery is the voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and another person who is not his or her spouse, though in many places it is only considered adultery when a married woman has sexual relations with someone who is not her husband. In most cases, in Western countries, only the married party is said to have committed adultery, and if both parties are married (but not to each other) then they both commit separate acts of adultery. In other countries, both parties to the adultery are considered guilty, while in others again only the woman is able to commit adultery and to be considered guilty.

Pay-It-Forward Nov 17, 2008 3:33 am

yes, some states still have adultery laws on the books.....check with a lawyer to see what the laws are in your state........

Oh, and your friend risks being named in a divorce suit filed by his girlfriends husband....no big deal to some, but would YOU want to be the reason she lost the house, car, and kids?

hubby2s Nov 17, 2008 3:34 am

cheating....NO

doing something wrong...YES.."if he knows"

better hope the "HE" dont catch him...it could hurt.

lllPHOENIXlll Nov 17, 2008 3:37 am

Maybe one of these days your friend will be in the husbands shoes.

Tell ya friend to look at it that way and ask him how he would feel!!

Looking is 1 thing....Touching is cheating

SiresnMe Nov 17, 2008 3:41 am
it is wrong.
locochaser Nov 17, 2008 3:43 am
I agree that he's not "cheating" because he's not deceiving anyone ... but that doesn't put him in the right. And for his sake I hope the cuckolded husband is not to be feared if he finds out.
CalculatedMove Nov 17, 2008 3:44 am
maybe he's like me not wanting a relation just wanting some lol.
