Went shooting today

Nov 15, 2008 11:00 pm Report Abuse

Earlier this week, I picked up a new handgun, the Springfield XDM 40. Kinda pricey (over $600), but I'd read a lot of reviews, and it was really well recieved. Me and one of my interns from work went to a local range and shot for a few hours. It was a lot of fun. The new gun is the most accurate pistol I've ever used (I own several). I got a 4 inch group at 30 feet with a full 16 round clip. Not only that, but the group was dead centered on target, literally ripped the entire bullseye out of the target. It was nice to reaffirm the value of buying such an expensive pistol. I'd recommend the XDM to anyone. Now my hands are sore from loading magazines, so going to amble onto Pokerstars and find me a game!

The guns I brought to the range today: Walther P-22, Taurus 24/7 9mm, Springfield XDM 40, GSG-5 with a green laser.

AMBLE LMFAO what do you need your pop gun for?

Good grief! I surely will call you if I need fire power!

inthebite, no need to make fun or demean my post.

Target shooting is one of my hobbies, however I have my ccw permit and almost always carry concealed for personal protection. I wouldn't trade the feeling of security for anything, however I hope I never have to use it. There are frequent robberies in the area I live, as well as gas stations getting held up, people being shot (my last apartment someone was shot on the front steps, and left there to die). Knowing that if my wife and I encounter these kind of criminals, I would not hesitate to shoot to protect our lives, or someone else who's in trouble. Frequent practice and familiarity with the guns makes their use second nature. As I mentioned, 16 rounds in a 4 inch group at 30 feet is more than accurate enough for self defense. If I ever encounter a situation where I need it, I'm sure as hell making sure that I hit what I aim for, whereas I guarantee that criminals haven't practiced nearly as much. I consider my life, and that of my wife's to be more than worth it.

16 round magazines!?!?! Damn-here in Masachusetts we're only allowed 9....

I have a nice little toy u would probably appreciate a WEATHERBY 360 MAG. I call it my a t&t weapon you can reach out and touch someone at 3/4 of a mile, oh and since it is supersonic the projectile arrives before the sound!!

my pistol is a ruger blackhawk .45 cal nothing like overkill

Sweet I have a 357 taurus that I have taken a couple deer with.

That's an impressive grouping, at least by my standards! Glad you like it
And I don't think we're(NC) allowed 16 either edly

The Springfield is a sweet gun, i compare it to the HK P2000, The taurus is also nice but def not as smooth and the walter .22 hmmm wonder why youd have that lol makes me think bad things lol

nice i have 44 super redhawk with 9 in barrell and 30 mm tasco shotgun scope on it i love my hand cannon
Fr333zy Nov 26, 2008 12:49 pm
Hehe, the P-22 is just for cheap target shooting! However I'm thinking of getting the tax stamp for a suppressor. It's great, just because it's so cheap to shoot!

at least a few true men left...amen fellow marksman

I'm with you, Fr333zy- while shooting a .45 is a lot of fun, it's hard to beat a $10 bucket of .22s. All day plinking vs. "Damn, there goes another $14 box of shells."

As for grouping-I can beat you all. I can easily put 100 in the black. Of course I'll be using my skeet gun......
