how to win at 7card stud.

Nov 15, 2008 2:27 pm Report Abuse

this is from my persoal experience,i only play if i have a poket pair,3 cards to a straight,or 3 cards to a flush. i know it sounds simple, but it really works!i play the cassinis stud freeroll on stars and about 8 times out of 10 ill make it to 88th place for a ticket into the weekly round two.i admit it does take patience though because those kind of hands only come around once in a while, but if you bet aggressivly on those premium hands youll have a good shot at winning!hope this helps someone, and good luck on the felts!

I agree that is a good strategy. I would add that you need to keep an eye out during the hand for the cards the other players have been dealt. Because if they are dealt a lot of the suit you need for your flush or the cards you need for a straight, then your outs go down and you might want to give up the hand.

oh yeah, most certainly you always look out for the other players.thanks!

Good post! Thanks for your advice. I think you could also add some speculative hands to that advice like any 3 high cards (ten or better). Adding those hands should add additional chips to your stack during your play. At least I find those hands to add more chips to my stack on average.

i would have to agree with your blog if the title were "how to win at stud if you're just starting to learn the game"

yes, that's how you should play stud hi if you don't really know how to play stud hi, lol...I would suggest starting with wired jacks or better, though, not just any pair...

thank you! good advice!

thanks 9to5,maybe that will make my game even better!

lol, panda...i can't tell if ur being sarcastic or not...i will add:

it is obviously paramount to know what cards are being dealt on third street to all other players at the table when you decide whether to stay in and see fourth. If I'm suited up in spades on third and see that at least two other spades have been dealt, I don't draw for it.

To start off with three straight cards is correct, but I would suggest to only start with three consecutive connectors, i.e. 89T rather than a gapper like 79T or 79J (double gapper). And, as with seeing fourth with the flush draw on third, if I'm dealt a straight draw on third and I see at least two cards that complete my straight already dealt out, I don't draw to it.

I could write forever on stud, especially h/l...but that should be a little more helpful to you than my last comment, lol...

blaze those felts, cough cough.
