heres my story..i played in the newton's fix limit omaha freeroll tonight on pokerstars. after 55 mins i had achieved 6600 chips or so. i get a hand that looks like this...Railbirds card: Kc Railbirds card: 3d Railbirds card: Ac Railbirds card: 4s...the flop is Railbirds card: 2c Railbirds card: Ah Railbirds card: Tc..this gives me a pair of aces and a nice flush draw. im in the big blind and called a meager 200 chip raise. the turn comes down Railbirds card: Td my opponent bets the max and i call..400 i believe. apparently i shouldve folded because here comes the river its Railbirds card: Ts and this gives me a full house tens over aces. i bet 400 he raises 800 i backraise 1200, he calls. his cards show and he has...Railbirds card: Qc Railbirds card: 3c Railbirds card: Qh Railbirds card: 2s now i dont play omaha very much and i mightve just learned something new about it because they gave him the pot with tens over queens and left me hangin with my tens over aces. so my question is did i get screwed or are pocket pairs stronger than pairs made on the board when playing this game ? all comments welcome.

you play 2 of your cards and 3 on the board. you only had AK high and trip tens while he had the full house.

this was your best hand Railbirds card: TcRailbirds card: TsRailbirds card: TdRailbirds card: AcRailbirds card: Kc you use three on the board and two from your hand, it gets a little confusing.

you have to use 2 cards from your hand in omaha. you had a three of a kind with A K kicker he used his 2 queens giving him a full house

Davo is correct. Omaha can be a little confusing at times trying to figure out what hand you have. I have made mistakes alot on these type of things but like he said you have to use 2 cards from your hand and 3 from the board so in this case you have T-T-T-A-K (3 of a kind) to Q-Q-T-T-T (FH)

sorry bro but you didnt have a boat, in omaha you MUST play TWO cards in your hand with THREE on board, no more, no less... there-for your best hand was TTTAK
PapaPower Nov 15, 2008 1:21 am

In Omaha, you must use 2 cards from your hand and 3 cards from the board. So, in this case, you have the Ace and King of clubs in your hand and the three 10s on the board for trip 10s

Your opponent has a full house, the 2 Queens in his hand and the three 10s on the board --- 10s over queens.

I hope that helps.

I really have an argument with cbhound. I didn't think there were railbirds out there like him. If i am correct the purpose of this site is to learn about poker and to meet poker friends. We have been told from the git go, you have any questions Feel Free to ask. If i am incorrect please feel free to let me know. As for now i believe that if you don't know then you should ask.

in omaha u must use 2 cards in your hand not one

he had fh coz off the qq u had 2 pair As and 10s

Markie141 Nov 15, 2008 5:04 am

Yes this site is to learn and ask questions , omaha is a fun

game , it's always 2 from your hand and 3 from the board ,

lots of new omaha players make the same mistake at first ,gl

What's worse is I actually wrote Stars once complaining when I lost a similar hand lol. Duh!!

(I've since managed to learn the rules.)
