i have learned about him.....just because dventura2350 thinks he is one of the most respected players in the world then i should agree!!! dont think so buddy........maybe if you watched the show yourself, you will see how much of an idiot he acted similar to scotty ngyuen did at the world series.

if you watched the program, you would of heard brad booth say himself and alot others think he is an idiot as well...........mr. ventura.

I agree, he is more show than go ! He may have won some tournaments in the past, and my own a bunch of land in Costa Rica, but he is annoying with his antics ! The light up shark is just stupid ! Why play with kids toys at a poker table? I really don't care for the loud players, and he is one of the loudest !

Unfortunately, I agree with dventura. Humberto has a solid record of wins in both tourneys and cash games. You watched one session of edited heads up play. Is that the way we should judge a player's ability?

whats so funny about a 60 year old guy jumping around in a costa rican crown, and carrying around a stupid 25 cent shark and mocking his opponents with it......true sports, good class players shrug it off but one of these days he is gonna meet someone who doesnt think hes so funny....id like to see him play heads up against sean sheikan in a bad mood....the sheik would tee off on him

Humberto Brenes is a first rate player, no question. His antics are irritating to some, amusing to others...but you always know when he's in a tournament, and publicity is part of the deal for some. I'm sure his over-the-top style bothers some of his opponents to the point where they make mistakes when playing him that they wouldn't make against a "classier" player. That's part of the game, too!

Did i say u said anything about him havin class? No, i didnt, i was just pointin out, ur usin a double standard to base who u like. u like the guy who will call u an idiot for 10 mins straight, over some guy who likes to have fun, and liven up his tables a lil, with humor, and jokin around, so, dont mince my words. I dont know how you cant like him. I think he is funny to watch, but you cant deny he is a really good poker player.

Humberto Brenes may know how to play cards, but he's a hot dog with few parallels. And I don't care for him any more than I care for similar talented hot dogs like Terrell Owens or Manny (thank God Boston finally got rid of him) Ramirez.

i agree wit rhyno, from wat ive seen helmuth is only a whiney litle ***** who complains wen he loses, did ye see the episode of poker after dark wer he stormed off like a little girl in the hand against sean shacan(dunno how to sppell it)

Humberto is one of my least favorites as well. I can't exactly put my finger on it as to why cause I do like Mike  Matusow and Phil Helmuth. I guess it's just everyone's preference. I guess cause maybe while he is a great player sometimes his antics outweighs the actual poker being played. Mike I can relate to since I've had quite a few tournaments where i've played well and then had a blowup and Phil Helmuth often says the things I'm thinking when I get knocked out to a worse hand. Maybe that's why I like them and not Humberto.
