which hand is better

Nov 14, 2008 7:43 pm Report Abuse

Which hand is better. AQ offsuit or A4 suited. Whenever i get a hand like AK or AQ, i raise big preflop and get called by ace-rag suited. The Ace hits on the flop so i go all in, and the oponant calls without much thinking. For some reason that rag always hits and leaves him thinking he made a good call. Am i doing something wrong?

depends on the flop but unless the str /flush fall your ahead at that point

The one that wins when all the cards are dealt...... That is the better hand!

Seriously though, moving all in on the flop with top pair is not usually a good move anyway. You want your big slick or similar to hold, but.......An Ace in your hand and one on the board = only one Pair!

A,Qo is 18% favored to win against 8 random hands pre flop !

A,4s is 16% favored to win against 8 random hands pre flop !

To answer your question....Yes, going all in with one pair and two cards to come is a mistake, and often you will pay for it !

your right going all in with ak or aq with only top pair isnt good but calling with ace rag is worse sometimes it happens but most time you'll bust themit works it self out.

AQ os is always better than a suited naked ace. no matter how you put it, it is domination. if you get unlucky that is just what it was, unlucky. gl and playon.

Nothing more fun than stacking off with AQ.

if you flop an A and the other guy doesn't yet have 2-pair or a flush draw, then with 2 cards to come you are approximately 85-15 favorite! with one card to come you're a massive 93-7 favorite! how can you think the other guy made the right call??? i'd put all my chips in the middle with those odds EVERY time!

As TC pointed out, A-Qos is only slightly more favorable than A-4suited preflop. The hand 'looks' a lot prettier, but does not have a great advantage.

To shove all in after the flop with only top pair is what you see on TV all the time and is very misleading. It's a reckless move if it's done from out of position without a very solid read on your opponent.
