My new biggest pet peeve

Nov 14, 2008 6:59 pm Report Abuse

I'm currently playing in the $1 Rebuy (1r+1a) on Full Tilt and was just wondering...isn't it customary to check down a pot when three players are in a hand and one of them is all in unless a player has a strong hand that they need to protect. Why do players bet into the pot when they have nothing???

Ahhhh...The dry pot bluff. One of the major moves in the donkeys arsenal.

I do like the move when I am the all-in and the bluff keeps me in the game.

Well it is customary to do this. But, that doesn't make it the law. Therefore, you have to be careful before entering this type of pots. It all comes down to you reading your opponents. If you see a crazy maniac entering this pot, then don't expect that same maniac all of a sudden become ettical and check the pot down. Also, sometimes the player all in has so little chips left that it doesn't matter whether that player wins or not. In that cas just imagine that player is not in the pot, and make your decisions based on the other player in the pot. I am surprised though because the tournament you are playing in usually has a lot of good players in it.

my biggest pet peeve is when there is like 60 in the pot and someone raises all in or a huge amount to try and steal the pot. I mean if you want 60 bucks that bad then fine, I fold...and these people think they are great at bluffing LOL

It is somewhat of an unwritten rule, however if a player has a very strong hand that they suspect is the winner, I see nothing wrong in trying to get some additional value from it. The problem comes from people without the super strong hand making the move, and causing the best hand to fold !

.....play on ....Tc....
