NBC Heads-Up Freerolls

Nov 14, 2008 3:40 am Report Abuse

As I'm sure most of you are well aware of, Full Tilt has started a new round of freerolls. These freerolls take the form of Shootout, Heads-Up Turbo with 256 players, and can be found under Sit and Go > Satallites.

I have played several of these and find them quite enjoyable. Its a good way to practice your heads up play without being in a money/pressure situation, and the only heads-up freerolls I have seen Full Tilt run. The furthest I have made it is to the round of 16, and with qualifying going to only the first player it seems tough. The good thing however is that you only need to beat 8 players out of the 256 player field, so its easier than it seems. Feel free to comment on your successes/experiences with these freerolls.

On a side note, I got to test my skills heads-up against our own bigpoppaboats, who also happens to be a member of The Cartel. He was too much of a match for me, but I nicked him for a sizeable chunk of chips in one hand. :-P

These are my experiences and I am looking forward to hear yours. Although these are fun to play in the wait between rounds necessitates that you join multiple freerolls at a time, and it seems like the reward potential is somewhat low... I think the Poker after Dark freerolls and the 100 FTP for 1-2 could be a better option for your time, maybe join some FTOPS sats and be playing the Main Event before you know it. ;-)

I had a few friends play yesterday, one of them even won. I gotta try to find a pw though lol

I played one last nite, as you alluded to the wait inbetween levels is abit much.

Last nite each round was extended ENORMOUSLY, by the last two players in the given level being sitters. We had to wait for the blinds to go up to 1k-2k so they would be all in in order to eliminate a player. It was excruciating!!!!!!!!!

Im sure this isnt a regular occurance...is it? Has this happened to anyone else?

Im gonna give it another try tho, I did like it if it wasnt for the delay

Hey Tony,

I did see them, but haven't had the opportunity to play in one yet. I think it's a great way to get some practice in for sure!

Thanks for the blog and GL on and off the felts!!

Yea I played last night also after reading the blog by AussieStorm.

Kryptonite, I believe that is when I played it was after 1am my time and one of the players name was Audio_Only seems that him and his opponet sat out till the blinds forced otherwise. The field dropped to 64 at that time and I left in 40th place....so sad after waiting almost 35minutes before the sitters took their almost 23minutes

Are they reserved for US players? I know the HU tourney on NBC is the National HU championship and the past 3 years Canadians could not play, according to the rules.

I've played in a few of them. It's tough. I played a first round match against an opponent who wasn't there, it took 63 hands for me to get all his chips. And he won 2 of the hands! But I haven't found the wait between rounds to be much more than about 15 minutes.

they bore me i think the PAD's are way more worth it but it would be cool to play NBC but PAD would be way more fun!! imo

Yep! PHOENIX Im almost certain we are talking about the same game.

I read Aussies blog and went to try it out too, not knowing what I was in for....lol

It happened AGAIN at the next break! It was after 1am here at that point and I fell asleep during round of 32 and finished in20th.

Brutal, but I am gonna go try again now I think, see ya there maybe.

Good luck to you and all who play'em!

Cheers

Krypto
