It's all a learning experience!

Nov 8, 2008 12:41 am Report Abuse

I sat down today and decided to play in two tournaments at the same time. Railbirds $200 guarantee and the $27,500 guarantee $26 buy-in. I won a $26 tournament token a while back and decided to use it today.

I'm fairly new to the world of tournaments. Usually playing either ring games online or live, never really had the tournament "bug". Until recently that it is. Wanting to expand my game and only make it better, I decided to start playing tournaments on a regular basis. Playing the number of low by in tournaments or free rolls. I found it quite common to run into "extremely loose players". Finding this almost unbearably tolerable, I almost packed it in and headed back to ring games. Then I found railbirds. Playing tournaments with what I would consider above-average players is truly an amazing learning experience.

Both tournaments were going extremely well. In the $27,500 guarantee I was just sitting below average in chips with 185 people left out of the 1490. I was dealt 76 of hearts in the small blind, everyone folded to me I completed it. The big blind raise the pot three times. I decided to give it a shot. The flop came 10 76, with two clubs on board. I checked, he went all in. I called. He had ace queen off suit. The turn came 10 pairing the board, the river was a queen. There I was, kicking my lunch pail down the street, shaking my head in disbelief.

Set up poker site? Or was it just a donkey who made that push all in with ace queen off suit? After a little bit of consideration, it was neither of the two. It was me! I am the one that made the bad play. This is not a ring game, slow play can kill you. I don't blame the guy for pushing all in with ace queen off suit and trying to take it down. I should've been the one giving him the ultimatum. Oh well, live and learn!

Anyways, I came third place in the $200 guarantee!

Thank you very much for allowing me to be part of this group
good luck on and off the felt

You played the $200 rmr very well today. I was at the table with you for quite a spell. I read your chat telling us about that hand.

Good job in both of them.
