The first thing I do when I get on my computer and login is check my e-mail. As usual, Full Tilt sent me there newletter e-mail. Well, today there is an article in it from Scott Montgomery about the benefits of an agressive image. I urge to go read this article before you finish reading this blog.

Now, I understand where he's coming from. And yes this can be effective if used properly. Here's the problem. This is going to turn regular tournaments into freerolls. Why I say this is, 90% of players don't know how to play like this properly. I have a feeling this is going to turn a lot more tournaments into all out donkfests. I was playing in a $1.25 90 person sit n go last night and I drew a pretty rough table. That was great, I had an awesome time playing against players with as much skill, if probally not more than me. But I can't stand to be seated at a table with someone that tries to play a maniac style. Because I've found that most of the time, they don't know how to do it. On the other hand, this people can feed a tight agressive player lots of chips too. So anyways, anyone that read that article, I hope you didn't read to much into it. I also hope that when you in a tournament, you think a little more and don't try to use this obsured style that you have no idea how to use. I know this sounds like I'm ranting, but let's face it, your not Gus Hansen and that style takes a lot of work to develop.
What do you guys think of this article?

Alot of ***** and skillzz are lost on the micros and super micros. For the most part, micro buyins require ABC basic poker.
I really don't think that one article posted by Fulltilt Tips is going to slant or change the playing style on the micro buyin tourney tables. There's ZILLIONS of ***** info. out there, on the internet, in bookstores, videos, training sites, coaches,... etc. One article on Fulltilt Tips won't make a bit of difference imo (if it does to some... then they're way too new to be effective with it anyways).
Maniacal players can be annoying at times but one just needs to alter one's strategy when playing against them. Often players will lose patience and play back into the Maniac in a maniacal manner,... bad idea. Tips on how to play a LAG or Maniac,.... give up on hands and let him become accustomed at taking down small pots from you (for the most part, Maniacs prefer to be involved in small pots) but also come in with more check-raises when you have strong (will keep Maniac in line when you do happen to check a decent draw, etc., not wanting to be reraised by the Maniac to where you'd be making a mistake to call,... not getting the implied odds to do so, etc.). Play your good hands hard against the Maniac and practise patience. Most maniacs do very poorly online generally,... there's a small amount of them who do quite well with it,.. rarely in a micro buyin. I love the Maniacs on the Cash tables,... just so happened to stack one off last night.
You are correct though. All of those loose players who have never heard of him either will think that because he is employed by Full Tilt he must be good. They will then follow his advice and start going all in every time they get ace rag or use this article to justify their own bad moves that they get lucky with.
I completely understand what you mean tilt, but the problem is, you know one idiot is reading this article going, " Duh, I'm going to start playing like that!"
You do make some very good points though.
ButtonDog, he is one of the "November 9" as they are calling the 2008 WSOP Main Event final table players. He sucked out when he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar holding rags, to make the final table !
