It's My 1 Year Anniversary

It's hard to believe that my 1 year here at Railbirds has come around. I first heard of this site while looking thru the freerolls on FT. I couldn't believe how often they were offering freerolls, so I thought I would check it out. Little did i know what I was in for when I joined the site. I thought it would be a place, where I would pop into on occasion, to find a password then go register for the tourney. Boy was I ever wrong.

When I joined this site, I didnt have much game. I also didnt have a BR because I wasnt willing to deposit to something I felt like I would lose money at. I would play the play chip tables as something to pass time when there wasnt nothing else to do. I would on occasion win a couple bucks on FT freerolls, but then promply lose it in a SNG because I didnt have a full understanding of the game. I, like many others, had that vision of playing in the WSOP main event. A dream for us all.

My first friend after joining was Mrs. Magoo. She helped me alot in the beginning when it came to navigating the site. It didnt take me long to start becoming involved on Railbirds. Commenting on blogs and writing blogs but they were mainly the nonpoker blogs because I felt like I didnt have any useful advice to offer on poker strategies. But I began reading as many poker blogs as possible, I started understanding position, value betting, beating the bubble, and laying down a hand when you are beat, odds, etc. I was receiving a whole new outlook on the game.

After 2 months, I thought I would join a clan. The FROGS were just starting up so I go involved with them. The clan was short lived and many of those members left the site, but I remained. A few months later, I started looking for another clan and saw alot of blogs and fun that the LIZZARDS were having. They gladly welcomed me in and I have had such a blast with them.

Alot of thing have changed in this site over the past year, and all the changes I have seen are for the best. Many people don't like change, but when it is for the better it is always good.

Railbirds is a place I thought I would come to once in awhile. I was wrong. when I am on the computer, I have to see what is going on at Railbirds. I loggin when I wake up in the morning, throughout the day when I am off work, and at night before bed. I have developed a list of good friends here at Railbirds. This site has given me friends, a better level in my poker game, and words of encouragement in troubled times. Many have come and gone over the past year, but this is ONE place I won't be leaving.

So to you Railbirds.com, I say thank you for making this a great year for me.
