The most important thing

Nov 5, 2008 12:53 pm Report Abuse

What is, in your opinion, the most important thing in poker:

-luck

-reading other people

-bluff

-or the mood you are when you play

And why is that?

Pain

Luck! Without luck you never ever survive a tournament! You can be the best reader, bluffer in the world, but in every tourney u need luck or ur dead anyway

Ems_man Nov 5, 2008 12:58 pm
what tom said.. it all has to do with luck

Well for me yes luck is a big part of it. But..........

If I'm in one of them pissy moods to start with then forget playing even for play chippies. Cause then the all in idiots get me pissier ( if that possible lol ) and I can't get the reads right.

I think that all four are probably equally important. If any are missing you are not likely to do well.
mrknwitall Nov 5, 2008 1:19 pm

If you are a good player , than the most important thing , inevitably has got to be :

LUCK!

i no they are not there but

skill and experience: THe more u play the better you will understand what to do in different situations

mathematics and odds: If you know the odds and chances they can improve your ability to make desicisions

br management: You can be an excellent poker player but without BR management you will not make money

ME_ TOM TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OFF MY KEYBOARD.
ALL YOU NEED IS LUCK.
REGULATOR0 Nov 5, 2008 2:22 pm
they are all equal of importance and position and and and, etc. !
thejuanupsman Nov 5, 2008 3:30 pm
Easily my mood. If it was all about luck I wouldn't keep seeing the same people at final tables. Luck is an element, but it's not the most important luck. The wrong mood can ruin it all no matter how lucky you get.

I also think position should be up there somewhere.
JBug40 Nov 5, 2008 3:51 pm

I think that the most important thing in poker is your mood when you sit at the table. I don't care how good you are at reading people in live games, if you are not 100% into the game, you will miss things and make bad calls or folds.

Reading people in live situations is VERY important. Online, not so easy to do.

Luck is also an important factor but as they say, you make your own luck . . .

Bluffing is important but to make the right bluff at the right time you need to have a good understanding of the tble and that comes from being in the right mood. If you have a calling station at the table and you're HU, then a bluff will not make him fold as he will beleive that his hand is better than yours and you will lose.

If you aren't in the proper frame of mind, you are not going to go far in any tournament.

Staying patient is the very most important aspect of any player's game.

kappano Nov 5, 2008 4:09 pm

the most important thing is absuletly PATIENCE ..

everybody need info, luck etc.. but if dont have PATINCE evert time loose

MaverickMechanic Nov 5, 2008 4:14 pm
They are all very important but when the chips hit the felt you just can't beat luck, all the reads, bluffs and paitence in the world cant get by the suck out. If playing perfect poker always won the same 50 people would always win the big tourneys. As good as one may play he can't win without a bit of luck.
Grading_Curv Nov 5, 2008 4:17 pm
I would add patience, and boldness, but then again, luck, luck, luck always helps.
Moondoggie2 Nov 5, 2008 4:20 pm
