after last nights blog about the playing a ace rag, i have to say i am shocked by some of the responses in the thread (and really shocked by the responses from 1 certain person) so i have a few questions for all of you (plz dont answer this if you are only here for the freerolls, or only a play money player)
question 1. why have all of you come to railbirds? i mean what are you doing here?
question 2. what exactly is it that you have learned from your experience here at RB's?
after some responses i will let all of you know where i am going with this blog......
again i am looking for serious responses, and am looking for them from some of the more well known posters on this site, some newer players, and some clan leaders
thank you for the responses

1. i have came to railbirds to mainly have fun. joining a clan, being active with your clan, and playing in the private tournaments with your clan is all fun. i also came to railbirds to be apart of a poker community and see what thier all about, another reason is show the poker world who i am and what i can do, railbirds is kinda like a family for me, i can express my mind about the game and what i am feeling at the time. i also like to see what other poker players think about poker and what is on thier mind so i can relate myself to the other players.
2. id have to say the biggest thing ive learned from railbirds is to be respectfull to other players on and off the tables. before i joined railbirds i was just a young disrespectfull kid playin poker and would say pretty much anything at the tables with no regards what other ppl would think. now, i am a much more mature player and starting to become more respectfull at the tables. im not gonna say im 100% perfect yet, but i am trying to improve. i have also learned to become a better poker player, thanks to my fellow birds and clan members. also to the daily question that im always reading.
Since coming here I have learned about playing position
Like you are speaking of I have learned that ace rag is a junk card, but the people explaining it did it in a polite non confrontational way.
I have learned patience
Just to name a few things.
Prior to coming to railbirds I had never placed in the money in a freeroll.
I have since not only made final tables in freerolls, but I have won first place in non railbird real money MTT's with as high as 700 players.
I hope this helps.
1st of all i joined 14 months ago to take advantages of the freerolls. Now i have met great people and gain support from them when needed its a fun site to belong too
if efort to turn blue
dooman
1. I joined because of the flavor of the month club.
2. People have issues.
Now two things for you:
1. Why did you really make this blog entry?
2. Liar!
I have learned to fold a set of tens on the flop when my pocket tens hit and there is a flush draw on the table and tight passive players bets big.
Q2) I have learned a ton just by playing RM freerolls and RMRs. My live game represents this well.
I have learn patience, variance, how to use position and the list goes on.
I have learned that if you and QuasiPro are HU in a hand ya better have a good hand, Never ever try to bluff Bebewins lol and dont even try to take on Wombli in Razz.
But most of all, I am trying to learn to control my emotions. Poker is just a game and all you can control are your own actions.
That being said, Railbird has given me so much with out asking as much as a thank-you. So let me say THANK -YOU to Railbirds and all my freinds.
Good luck on the felt everyone
Respect.
another thing i want to add is that prior to joining railbirds, i was a play money player only, id play 100$ freerolls but never cashed out a real money check or anything thats it...after joining rb, i won about 3 or 4 rb freerolls, and built up a bankroll on ftp for my 1st time ever. i ened up cashing out at $1,000 last month and a total prizes of $8,000 over the last 120 days...soo im saying before railbirds i had no idea what real money poker was all about, now its a whole different story
I came here because it was recommended to me by a player on a table. A player that had not even been here for two months when she made the recommendation.
I stayed because I found a home, outlet for pent up feelings, and GREAT FRIENDS.
2. I have learned so much about my game and how to cash more often. what cards to play when, and why does position matter. I learned that there are so many people out there willing to help you learn. To help you with a question that you believe is silly and they will take you serious and answer you. I am even starting to figure out odds...still not real good at it but getting better....lol
I dont know if this is what you meant but it is why I came here and then why I stayed.
some great posts so far keep them coming!
now lets hear from some more ppl trying to be a better poker player! who came here to improve their game? and while impoving or atleast trying too who are some of the ppl that have written blogs helping you?

^^ that is kind of the point of this blog
I came to RB for the freerolls at first but soon relized that there was a lot of good info on playing poker and a lot of good poker players that were willing to give you any info that you needed.
The best thing i think i have learned on the RB site is to have patince and postion betting. Since i joined RB's my game has improved alot and i have made it into the cash a few times which is hard to do on freerolls. And my home game has improved very much i am way ahead in cash there as well.
Thanks Railbirds and cya on the felts
Here is a response from one of the "newer players"......
1. Like most, i initially came here for the freerolls. I had no idea what the community was like untill i saw the frerolls listed at fulltilt and figured, why not. As far as what I'm doing here now, still chasing a bankroll cause i'm too stubborn to deposit, reading some entertaining blogs (and learning from some too) and picking out a few that i enjoy playing with to call friends.
2. I have learned quite a bit actually, patience was one of my biggest weaknesses and that has improved. Being a bit more selective about when i bother seeing a flop (however i still probably see close to twice as many as i should). I have also found resources that have helped me comprehend the statistical aspect of the game, something i never bothered with before. I think my experience here has made a significant difference in the results i am having in the tournaments, and i expect that i will continue to improve by playing against some very fine players. I have also found that, even as close knit as this group is, there will always be some that are flat out lousy losers, unable to contain their rage when they think you should have folded to their bet. I have seen some that seem to be respected members that i wouldn't give 2 cents for their friendship. I believe in treating everyone with courtesy and respect untill they prove they are not entitled to it. I have found many here that deserve it and i hope to earn their's.
I think this site is pretty much just like any other gathering of humans. You will find some you care about, some you would prefer to evaporate from the face of the earth, and a lot you can get along with and enjoy a game of poker with. And like any other group, you will have problem issues and disagreements. This is perfectly normal, i think what defines the group is how the members work to solve those differences. What i've seen so far is not the way i would have attacked the problems, but it is a reasonable attempt to resolve the issues. Personally, i kinda like it here.
I hope this helps you find the answer your looking for.
Don
Came as an invite from a poker buddy, he's not as active now, and after a few days I got hooked. I loved the freerolls first and now most railbirds have some of my money so need to get it back- play in the money games when I can. Then , oh my gosh the blogs- the best part of RB's to keep me laughing, crying- keeping all the emotions alive. Love my friends on here and all the help I get with everyhting about poker and or the internet-- still learning but sure thankful for all the help. It will be a cold day in Hadies to get me out of here.muuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh
I am saddened by this blog:
I came to railbirds and thought "What a great Community! There are so many knowledgable players...and they are willing to teach me?!" How Cool is that! I have been here a tad now....And have to say I absolutely love it!..
Yet with statements like the one in this blog as to "Real Money Players Only"...I have to stand up for the freerollers. Many have come to this site in order to get into the Freerolls that railbirds offer. Many of the people who play are quality players. (I have cash in my account yet choose on what games I choose to play, how often, and with whom)
I think this blog is disheartening for the new players. The ones who come for the freerolls and to learn amongst their peers. I for one am an avid fan of Chris F. I guess he would not have had a voice in your blog either.
In answer to the second question (I as a freeroller fan am not really suppose to be able to answer).......My answer is "Never stop Learning.."
Thank you ever so much for the space and time
Not meant to offend ....but to defend...k?
